We have them for vehicles and for ships but not clothing or armor? How many times have we spent hours looking for armor only to find that it's pink or green or some other a$s color.

We used to be able to change the color on Comp so the code cant be that hard. Just a simple item that Armorsmiths should be able to make and sell...

Did you ever consider to actually speak with an AS? I found that to be really helpful for a good outfit.

Of course. We have a couple of excellent Armorsmiths in our guild but they aren't always around. Also, now with the Vendor search I think a lot of people like looking for the best items they can find and aren't as concerned about price.

And if you're the kind of guy like me you like changing things up every now and then. Funny. I have like 2 shirts IRL but spend millions on clothes and armor in game...

Personally i don't want Armor Colring kits. There seem to be 2 types of AS's. The mass producing ones who distribute armor to the masses, and smaller ones who run their AS shop more like a tailor shop. I fall into the latter. I do a ton of custom orders and custom colors, and i charge a little more for this service, but not a lot more. It has helped me find a loyal and large customer base.

It's also helpful to the AS's who haven't been around long enough to really get all the uber-resources. They can focus on one type of armor and make sure they d custom orders and good colors. People will take the slightly lower resists for the chance to choose their own colors, making it easier for new AS's to get customers (which is needed, because SWG isn't attracting many new crafters).

There is an AS for hire list at the top of the forum page, i suggst you contact one in your server...

Although they would be an excellent addition to the AS grind, so people don't end up having to do the chestplate grind to 3xxx

Hmm, no... i need 3 shirts to get over the week...

Also i admit,i don't payfor my armours... bringing the favourite armoursmith a pile of high quality hides once a while works wonders.

[Though, on a rough calculation, the hides would have been worth several millions, so i guess your statement is somewhat true... ]

3 for the week? Wow. Actually I only have like 3 or 4 pair of work pants to get me through the week. I have 6 or 8 shirts but I have to wear the same ones all the time...

As a Shipwright I sold tons of the customization kits. It was a nice break from crafting components and chassis. What would be really cool is if they had both color and texture kits. That would allow for much more diversity without actually adding new armor.

Also, having the customization kits allows the AS to simply make all silver or all black armor and let the customer buy a kit to color/texture the armor themselves. Then you wouldn't have that silly green armor sitting on your vendor all of the time...

I agree to the mass producing AS it would be great, to the custom order AS - they would cease to exist - I would recommend that only AS's should be able to change the color - that way they can charge a bit extra to use the kit. Hopefully most mass producing AS wont bother with the time to change suit colors and the custom order AS's will still get that business. - just a thought

So if the AS doesn't like it but the masses do...... does that mean they will put them in game?

How does this kill custom order Armorsmiths? When I do a custom order I usally go to swgcraft.com to find the very best resources and then I bring everything in a backpack to the crafter and pay them to make it for me. Any crafter knows that there is a heck of a lot more involved than just color. In fact color is the ONLY factor that doesn't effect the overall outcome of your item.

That's one type of custom order and quite honestly, though that makes more sense, it isn't the way most combat only toons think when they go for custom order (most have never heard of swgcraft.com). I used to be a huge supported of armor customization kits (for the options and as a grind piece), but as I am getting off the ground, if it wasn't for custom color requests, I'd really be struggling. It's the best way to get your name out as a new armorsmith, especially when you are still trying to cap your resources.

Wouldn't also make sense from your point of view to, instead of waste all that time gathering the perfect resource, go to the AS on your server that already HAS those resources and all you have to do is tell them the color? If color is the "last" thing you are worried about, then why the post for the kits?

I don't know...it's hard to say which side of the fence I sit on at this point of my career!
