Thread: Why can't Armorsmiths wear armor and show off their stock?

Ok, so i was thinking yesterday, what simple change could greatly increase the ability for armorsmiths sell armor? I think the answer to that is simple. Armorsmiths should be able to wear all types of armor!

Now i'm not saying that armorsmiths should have the same ability to wear armor as combat professions. But I would like to see a novice armorsmith get for example, a 10% bonus to wearing all three types of armor. This would be of great help to them because this would allow armorsmiths to wear their armor and help them sell thier wares.

I don't know about the rest of you, but i know i would love to be able to don a suit of armor and show it off in coronet, with my master armorsmith title. And be able to do that without having to pick up a bunch of combat novices. Also, i don't think it would be game breaking if novice armorsmith got this ability as it doesn't really help us combat wise. We do get some "defence" but at the same time we move super slow, at most it would help the lvl 1 Armorsmiths survive while lagging badly on thier swoops. But really it would be more of a nice benefit to the profession.

what do you guys think?

I agree.

Or just make the armor not give any protection at all while useing the armorsmith certs.

Exactly. When I made my first set of RIS, I was so depressed that I couldn't model it. I would be happy if they made it so that I could wear it but can't move until I unequip it (kind of like the inventory overload), but I don't think that'll ever happen.

I could even keep it's statistics. You know how slow you move when you are wearing armor you bearly have certification for?

Try it some time, get novice rifleman and wear recon armor. It's nasty how slow you move

The whole armor certification thing makes little sense to me. Hindrances are fine, but the only reason to have armor certs is to give opponents some information about whom they are fighting and what might be the best protection to use against them. It is very strange to me that weapons are not as limited. While some have profession certs, some of the best weapons in the game are based on nothing but character level. Armor could be handled the same way.

To me, it doesn't matter so much that crafters can't wear armor for protection. Our character levels are so low that we get hit for large amounts of damage anyway. Put on a suit of armor, and you'll be so slow that running isn't even an option.

I do miss being able to make armor occasionally for fashion purposes. When I was a master tailor, I started a bit of a fashion trend by using those crappy rancor segments to outfit twi'lek dancers with padded chest plates, boots, gloves, and bracers matched to an extremely revealing skirt and a lekku wrap. Not saying it was my idea first, but a number of ladies glommed on to it.

The night before the CU went live, two other guildies and I went parading across the galaxy in the only three suits of RIS I had made up to that point. We knew we'd probably never get to wear it again.
