What is the new lightsaber damage type?

A new damage type has been created called, "lightsaber damage". All armor is vulnerable to lightsabers, with the exception of Personal Shield Generators. However more to the issue, there really wasn't a new name that fit besides "lightsaber" at the moment. Some of the suggestions by players were "Glowing Beam of light", "lightsaber-energy", "Plasma", "Light" and "Extreme Heat". When considering all of these things, we stuck with a very basic title that everyone could relate to. "Lightsaber" damage is a literal description and describes it as well as we can without creating any form of confusion with existing energy weapons.


What do you guys think? I Personally am unsure about this atm... but comments or other info?

Well, there really are no winners in an argument of symantics. I mean, LIghtsaberlike weaponry exists in most sci-fi settings and is eithor a refracted laser beam or a contained slasma stream that is released to cut when the beam is broken. THere are no plasma weapons in the game right now ( thank god ) but lasers do energy damage which is already overdone. The PSG defence I agree with simply because nothing stands up to them in the movies ( even though it pretty much makes all combat professions besides jedi moot after they make it quest based ) but as mentioned you're just looking at a discussion of symantics and confusion. Light saber damage is probably appropriate. It's not very elegant ( scratch that, it's downright homely looking ) but it is clear and concise. Nothing else does that kind of damage.

Just more reason that jedi's will be the only viable PvP class in the near future.

PSGs will still be useless, they'll break in like three hits and with that stupid armor equip delay you'll be dead before you can put on a new one.

And I thought psg's didn't work with any armor piercing weapons? (lightsabers are AP3 yes?)

If this where like the movies, one shot from a blaster and you'd be dead.


Anyone play Jedi Knight II? There was armor in that game that was resistant to light sabers.

Well cortosis ore DOES exist in game...I am betting on a quested schematic or something to make a Cortosis weave segment for the resists like stun. Not slicable, but something.
