I also was wondering what the difference between composite armor and advanced composite is? Is there a larger range of experimentation that advanced allows or a noticeable stat difference during or after experimentation?

Adv Comp Segs produce Adv Comp Armor with better stats than regular comp segs. You don't have to do a quest to get them, they are part of the AS profession at MAS. The ACS's take specific resources to make: Colat iron, polysteel copper, and kiirium steel.

The amount of experimentation you have is directly related to how high you are in the tech tree. You get 10 exp points when you reach Master. You can get up to +12 on exp by adding skill tapes to your clothing. For every +10 armor experimentation in tapes, you get +1 to your armor experimentation. Example, you have 3 tapes that = +10 for experimentation. This means when you go to experiment on your armor, you will now have +11 points to use.

Be forewarned, you can't camp the borgle caves since they were fixed. Also, AS exp tapes are a rare find. When someone does find one, they are expensive. Rule of thumb for cost is approximately 1 million credits per point. So if you were to buy your +10 tape from the auction block, expect to pay 10 million for it.

Pre-experimentation stats are solely dependent on your resource quality, the layers you may have added to the segment, and how you spend your points during experimentation. Of all the crafting professions, AS is by far the most diverse when it comes to experimentation.

In the thread, and the tool, they refer to gate numbers. This number is the range for a particular stat on a resource. For example, the Mal on some resources won't top 300.

Hope this info helps and good luck. Final word, practice, practice, practice. Practice on gloves since they don't require identical segments.
