Hey there...just let me start by saying that, no, im not a crafter...but im not trying to hijack your forums or anything.

I have not really been keeping up with your guys' posting and grievances or anythign liek that...but ive been floating soem ideas around and I just wanted to know basically 3 things:

1) Have these ideas been brougth up before

2) Is there anything being done/said about them

3) do you guys liek the idea.

As many peoploe may know one of the biggest problems in PvP is the fact that you have "flavors" of the day, week, month etc whatever

Many times this stems fromt he fact taht certain damage types are way betetr than other ones.....and due to this fact a large portion of the PvP population gravitates towards professions which will pierce armor. FOr instance, Peopel wearing Ubese armor almost definately have kinetic resistance, so you avoid that. Or Composite has a stun hole in it, so Riflemen and Fencers are the supreme Composite-killing class.

So......how about Armorsmiths have the ability to customize the armro they make, within certain extents.

Say that an armorsmith can take any one of the "main" resistances and make it a hole and allow something else to be high-end.

For instance: A composite crafter could make stun a regular base resistance in the armor......at the expense of making heat or electricty a vulnerability. Or perhaps an Ubese manufacturer could tone down the Kinetic resist and make energy a vulnerability, but make Heat the high-end resistance on the armor.

What we are talking about is variety and flexibility on the part of Armorsmiths to manufacture completely customized armor. Instead of looking at sum1 in a suit of Composite and saying "stun damage" you may need to find a totally different damage type to penetrate the armor because that particular suit has a stun base on it.

So...am I totally off the wall? Has this stuff been brougth up before? Any news on anything liek this in the works for Armorsmiths????

That's basically what layers are for. I'd recommend holding off until we see what happens in the combat revamp in june. There's no telling what they're going to do, so we're all in limbo.

well im talking about more than what layers do

yeah you can, say, make a weak stun armor if you dont have a special resistance on soemthing liek energy...or sacrifice base % (this is my udnerstanding). But you can say, make a 90% stun armor with a heat vulnerability in place of the stun

at least to my knowledge this is not possible.

im talking about a totally flexible system that allows smiths to pick and choose most everything about the armor.

Dont want an electric resistant COmp armor? pitch electricity completely in favor of ahigher base%...or to make stun a base resist......just no electricity

dont want Ubese to have a kinetic resist and want blast instead? ditch the kinetic resist in favor of blast.

Basically the ability to pick and choose and craft armor with the vulnerabilities/resistances peopel want as they want them.

Within limits of course...composite should always have 1 vulnerability and high HAM....and things of that nature. Im just talkign abotu the ability to pick and mix what resistances/vulnerabilities there will be ont he armor....without the need for layering.....and this would go beyond what layers can do.

I wouldnt like this

we have a hard enough time making the different types of armor as it is, I hate doing custom jobs, I just don't have the time. One set of custom wookie armor for a guidlies sapped me for at least an hour. An hour I could have spent loading factories or putting stock up onto my vendors. For what? about 50k profit. The only reason I did it was because it was a guild mate. I couldnt possibly see the night mare if we had to create all these custom armor jobs. Most masters would pick one or two combinations they liked and stock those and not worry about the other possiblities. That is what we do now.

example: people swear that ubese is the grinding/hunting armor of choice. It is light has good kinetic resists and isnt too expensive. Well, I was playing around and made some chitlin that was almost 60% kinetic, the HAMs were in the 200 range (more than half that of ubese) and I liked it better. If you are buffed and bring some food/spices for emergencies you cant tell the difference between 60% chitlin or 73% ubese. The only difference is that with lower HAMs you regenerate life quicker and have like no battle fatigue. Also with the two bicep pieces the chest seems to last longer. The chitlin costs me about 10-20k to make is all. Does anyone make it on a large scale? No not really (sure maybe a few isolated insidences)

there are different cominations and possibilties out there already, we either havent tried, are too busy, or we already know what works
