This isnt an issue, so much as maybe a suggestion to the devs. Alot of merchants dont want combat going on in their shops. They dont want valued customers being attacked, because when this happens, it takes away from the bottom line for said merchants. So on to my proposal.

How hard would it be for the devs to create a new vendor ability to prevent combat from happening within their store? This would give purpose to having master merchant again, or hiring 4. This would allow for a toggle on the owners store that would prevent combat from occuring in the structure. To offset this ability, it could also allow for an increased maintenance cost to the store. IE to resemble hiring guards or a protection organization.

Prior to this last patch, it wasnt much of an issue. Most of the gcw takes place in bases or large cities. However, with this patch you now have the new jedi/bh tef. Last night alone, I had 2 of my jedi customers attacked within minutes of entering the store. I dont want my store as a combat zone. I pride myself on trying to keep a neutral store, and if we could get something like what im suggesting instituted, would fix this issue.

To keep this from being a griefing for the bh, there would have to be checks and balances. IE, allow this only at master merchant. Thus, if someone gets to master merchant, enters this and then drops master merchant, then this ability would be lost immediately. I know that this probably would mean alot of coding, but its just an idea.

I thought the BH TEF would automatically eject them anyway? I'd ban any BH who dared to attack my customers. And I don't like the new BH TEF flag, because it forces a Jedi into combat, no matter how weak or wounded they are. (On the other hand, it may finally be the check we need to keep the game from becoming "JEDI JEDI JEDI and a few riflemen."

I say there's a war on! Or there was supposed to be. Wasn't there a war in this game at one time? Or did they toss that out of the timeline, too?

I say if you're special forces or jedi, those are the breaks. But I might change my mind if my pink-padded-clad battle armor vendor could bonk one combatant over the head with her power hammer and put the other in a full Nelson while shouting "No roughhousing!"

here on shadowfire one of our major merchant citys has a rule agains pvp. not against jedi vs bh stuff though. that is part of the game. most people will follow this rule but occasionally we have a few that don't much care about it.

i don't mind if someone gets whacked in my shop. cept the fact i have to clean up after them...lol..but with the tef thing back it will boot them out of the struture. and to think, they can't run a /peace macro anymore

sorry to see this game in its current state

Pre-patch and post-patch a BH could engage a jedi in a building. What is the difference? The only difference now is the jedi gets ejected along with the BH.

The problem with the above solution is this would create BH-free havens for jedi to sit in.

Well, I'd like to prevent combat in my shop. However, I can't think of a way to do it that couldn't be exploited. Then I thought, like the good Merchant that I am, "wait a minute, thereare creditsto be made here". An enterprising merchant could charge 100K to enter their "no combat" safehouse. They would be popping up all over the place.

I'll bet the Merchant forum would get a laugh out of this.

Ah well, these are our fortunes in the GCW.

Cheers.

I just don't think it could work. Exploit likelyhood extremely high.

Start using the ban i guess.

I like the idea however this would easily get abused by Jedi... since they have an alt they can pick up merchant and create true safe zone for themselves at up to 10 locations... then they get their guild buddies to do the same and soon BH's can't do squat

You can get safe zones for this already. Its called a private home. I really dont see this being a major occurence of abuse. Plus, if the jedi is attacked outside, he cant run into theshop/store so it prevents them from being able to escape. All this does, is allows the merchant some control of what goes on inside his shop or store.

private houses are "safe zones" in a way however there are 2 ways that I know of thata BH can get to a Jedi inside and still attack him. this would creat basicly a No PvP zone that works totally differnetly.
