Thread: GDK scale question

I have been killing that stupid GDK at the kimo city for a couple months now. I've killed him probably 30 times. I finally got 9 Giant Dune Kimogila Scales all with the same serial number. I know this has to be the RIS component but I have never seen a serial number on any other RIS components. Also, I thought these dropped one at a time like the Peko feathers or woolymander bones. Do these usually drop in large lots or has this changed recently or did I just get incredibly lucky?

Since publish9 they have been dropping in groups of larger then one. This is a confirmed bug that was caused when they changed the crafting system so that only items with serial numbers could be used. They addedserial numbers to RIS as well. Unfortunetly for those of us who collected the RIS components before pub 9 they haven't even talked about fixing this bug.

Its something new and its not known if its a bug or intended. One Question , you did get it off the one at the Village or did another one spawn there? It was always said the one at the Village didnt drop the scale.

I've heard the "rumor" that the one at the city didn't drop them but I've also seen first hand accounts from people saying that it could. That is the only place I ever have seen a GDK so I kept killing it. It's also one of the only static spawns on this server that is rarely camped. Itis the one that always spawns at the front with Cas Vankoo.

I've sent in some CSR tickets about the RIS components not having serial numbers. My repsonse was that the devs are aware of it and "hope" to have it fixed. No time frame or any other info was given

Jaato confirmed with the devs that it is a bug.

So let me get this strait. I just looted the rarest component but now I can't use the rest of the components I've been collecting for months?

All of these drops are still usable. There was a post awhile back where someone was auctioning off 11 100+ damage kryat tissues. They contacted the service reps on this because people were griefing his auction. The rep clearly stated that those items are still usable and would remain in the game.

Well I did a little more investigation. It turns out that the pre patch 9 special RIS components were assigned serial numbers. I looked at my stock and they all have unique IDs. I took these with the identical GDKs I just got and completed the RIS quest with no issue. I'm all set to make an RIS helmet or two when I get off work today!

I'm going to start hunting these now so i wanted to make sure i had my facts straight-and get some tips.

#1-Giant Dune Kimogila's drop Giant Dune Kimogila Scales-and these have no stats on them and are the parts for RIS armor?

#2-GDK's also drop regular kimo scales-with stats that look like armor segments?

#3- any chance regualr dune kimogila's drop GDK scales-prolly not just wanted to check

#4- In what part of Lok do you find the best numbers of GDK's? absolutly anywhere or are there area'a of the planet to look?

guess thats it, thanks for the help

#1-Giant Dune Kimogila's drop Giant Dune Kimogila Scales-and these have no stats on them and are the parts for RIS armor? - Yes

#2-GDK's also drop regular kimo scales-with stats that look like armor segments? - yes

#3- any chance regualr dune kimogila's drop GDK scales-prolly not just wanted to check - No

#4- In what part of Lok do you find the best numbers of GDK's? absolutly anywhere or are there area'a of the planet to look? - Volcano base and surrounding areas can reveal GDK also circling the imp outpost at 1k to 2km sometimes works as does clearing away other kinds of spawns in a spot you had seen them before.

I have found them in a large area on the southern half of Lok, usually below the imp base. It's odd not so see at least one while driving around down there. Oh and remember they dont spawn from lairs, only individual wild spawns.
