Thread: The Joys of Armor Repair

About a week ago I made myself a suit of PvE armor and have been going almost daily on resource hunts. After a few days of workI took a look at my armor and decided to give it a repair.

Suit stats:

Composite Armor Cheater - Helm, Chest, Pants, Gloves, Boots

80 Kinetic

79 Elec

85 Base

38.5k Condtion

At this point every piece was down to about 16k Condition, so I figured now is as good a time as any to repair it. Went to my workshop and pulled out my 'trusty' 99.64 repair tools and took a shot at it. Of the five pieces I recieved the following results.

Helm - Repaired with blemishes (-10k Condition)

Chest - Repaired with blemishes (-10k Condition)

Boots - With Blemishes (-10k Condition)

Gloves- Marginally Repaired (-15k Condition)

Pants - Marginally Repaired (-15k Condition)

The new highest condition on any piece was roughly 28.3k now. Now, I agree there should be some decay on armor even when repairing, but this is ridiculous. A Master Smith using one of the best tools on the server and I couldn't get a "You have repaired the item."

This just irks me to no end. Any player has just a good of a chance to fully repair a suit as I do. Thats why I no longer repair armor outside of my guild. Whenever I go to towns I take a few packs of tools so that I can sell them if anyone asks for repairs. We as Smiths should have a better chance of repairing than every other player. Give us repair mods in the skill tree at least. I should be able to go into a repair session confident that I won't fail, and will fully repair more times than not.

I agree 100%. It is stupid that a Master Armorsmith can not repoair armor any better than Joe Newb that started yesterday.

haha I agree. I spend half my time in Theed or Coronet explaining why I don't repair armor.

I just explain that unless the armor is mine I will not go out of my way to repair another smith's armor. If they are a good customer and are more then likely going to keep buying armor from you I will spend a quick minute to repair the armor. But I never go TOO far out of my way when I have more pressing matters.

The typical conversation I have, regarding armor repair:

Player: "I need you to repair my armor."

Me: "Armorsmiths get no bonus for armor repair. Find yourself a high rating repair kit, and you'll do just as well as I can."

Player: "Oh I didn't know it was broken. But, like, you're master, right? So you get better repair chance? Can you repair my armor?"

Me: /sigh

"Can you repair my armour? It is at 0. But don't break it."

The upside of repair sucking is that people tend to replace their armour more.
