Thread: Once again the real 101 of mastering armorsmith
This is a breakdown of the guide written by "our correspondent." In no way is this meant as a flame, troll, or any other aspect against the SOE Forum Guidelines. This is simply the reality of mastering armorsmith and becoming a succesful one.
But I do find a big lack of support from older armor smiths to the newer armor smiths on how to run a successful armor business.
I am an "older smith" and when we do give our support it is met with flames by the correspondent then a post deletions! I am only telling what happened here.
This guide first assumes that you have managed to make your way to master armor smith, there’s plenty of guides for how to grind to master, and how to go about it learning the tricks of making good armor. So let’s skip that, and get into the first steps.
What has our correspondent done to address this? Why do I have to be a master armorsmith to make any worthwhile armor?
What you will need to start:
-A large number of Mineral Mines
-A couple Chemical Extractors
-Some place to store all your resources, components, and everything in general
-Wearables factories, the busier you get, the more you’ll need.
So how do you get all the lots for these? Cross server trades?
As your resource hoarding begins, you want to have a well organized place to store resources. Nothing is worse then not being able to find your big stack of awesome Naboo fiberplast when you’ve got a big order of composite to fill. My system works very well for me; I have a small generic house with backpacks in it with backpacks marked for easy identification of what resource is where. One for aluminum, steel, iron, fiberplast, petrochem, hide, ect. Every day I collect resources from my harvesters, and put them strait into the correct backpack, this keeps me organized, efficient, and after I started getting really busy, it helped me keep up with the increasing strain on my business.
Im not sure I know of any smith or crafter for that matter, that can hold all their resources in a small house. Why not tell the truth here - we need storage and lots of it. Comes down to storing in factories. Very unfortunate. However, the truth.
So now, you have customers coming to your shop on a regular basis, the untold riches of being one of the most lucrative professions in the game is starting to pour in. Time you’ve taken to prepare for becoming bigger have paid off, and you’re managing to stay organized even though selling large quantities of armor at a time. What do you do now?
I wish this was the case. Unfortunately, 90% of the people who start armorsmith will not make it.
Like I said, I was a very successful armorsmith. I was fortunate to get started at the perfect time so a lot of luck was involved. It was a lot of fun.
I wish I could say the same to the 90% of the other players who tried. They simply can't compete with the 12 pointers. I am advocating for these people and I find that my posts are being deleted here left and right.
Sorry guys and gals.

No but you sure are doing the best you can to make me mad so you can try to get me canned. All because people don't like you're "I'm a billionaire, look at me!" attitude.

This issue is being addressed in the combat upgrade, so it is being fixed, and will be addressed. Once again you try to undermine my value and try to get me upset and give people more reason to get me removed as the correspondant, mainly because you are still upset.

Well I suppose if you need to. Or you can ask a guild for help, or you can just us a few at a time when you need them. Or you can use your imagination.

I guess you do, I don't I continue to be able to store all my resources in small housese. I have a couple more now thanks to the help of a few guild members. Over the last six months however I have learned it's best to keep finished factory crates in the finished hopper of the factories until you are ready to use them.

Well that's because 90% of the armorsmiths don't have the motivation. But if you are motivated and you do work hard at it, you can succede. Yes, you can compete with 12 pointers, but you have to know how. Of course it's nice and cushy once you get set up and get yourself established. I had more fun squeezing my way into the armorsmtih market of an already well established economy then anything else I have done in this game, I have also learned a lot over the last 6 months since I have written this guide, as I will still pretty new at the time, but saying that just because you have 12 points you can't make armor is like saying just because you don't have a jedi means you can't hunt on dathomir.

Why does this matter. Will the guide not be updated? Can you not simply request a piece to be inserted explaining how to get Master Armorsmith?

Write one up then

Okram2k wrote: And yes, calling for me to step down, claiming that I am not a good correspondant, and continuing to reply to many threads in an effort to make me angry enough to drop to a low enough level to flame you is an act of harassment.
I replied to one thread of yours in all the time you have been a correspondent. In that thread I offered constructive feedback on your way to "master armorsmith". Werent you the first one to post on my how to make a billion thread with a flame accusing me of duping? How nice for a correspondent.
I did call for you to step down beacuse I do not feel you represent us as players. This is not in anyway a form of harrasment but I had the guts to say what is said. It is funny that before the post was deleted it had a 5 star rating with 7 votes?
Okram2k wrote: I really hate it when people get mad, especially at me.
Im not angry at anyone. I am a payingplayer and the correspondent, correct me if I am wrong, is the liason between SWG and the players. I am sorry to say based on what I have seen him post I firmly believe he does not represent many of us.
Why not let the players decide? Im sure this post will be deleted, although I have not in anyway here violated the SOE Forum Policy.
All I ask is let the people make the choice.
