Had an idea recently... if psg subcomponent quality mattered, would enabling some limited psg condition regeneration be a fair trade-off? They could probably just pull code from how player HAM regeneration works too. Right now they are just a high priced consumable... like powerups but 15-20x more expensive. (and soooo many factory runs)
But if you ever let the condition hit zero the thing burns out or something... and THEN has to be repaired.
Just a suggestion that might add some content to the game.
Maybe I'm dreaming, but I'd also like to see damage ABSORBED used in the condition reduction too.
Oh and while they are adding new loot items, some sort of shield loot item that smugglers can use to hotwire a psg to soak up even more damage would be cool too. hehe

the idea for regenerating PSGs has been tossed around a couple times now, as well as PSG visual effects. The devs have been off and on from the idea but if we see any change to PSGs it would be in the CURB. I will say, however, that I have been quietly pushing for them to be improved somewhat as of right they only last at most a few minutes in heavy combat, and then you just have to throw them away, which has instead of giving us increased buisness, has given us less as most people don't find it worth the credits to buy one.

Well then, if this isnt a new topiclets go one step further.
If subcomponents quality can change, then perhaps some sort of looted components similar to the reverse engineered ship stuff could be added too.
And forget base effectiveness in psgs. Each subcomponent should affect resistances differently.
We should be able to design a psg to protect against a specific threat, or just a global resistance.
E.G.
I have a 97% effectivenessexperimentedenergy raydeflector (which would require some seriously good resources) that grants 43.65% energy resistanceper deflector in ANY psg, but in doing so you give up the possibility ofboosting the regen rate. Therewould still bepotential to adjust for the regen with the other components... at the expense of lowered cold/heat/stun resistances.
Final combine experimenting would still globally boost resistances, but not to the extent which were are currently used to, but only if youare willing to sacrifice regen and/or max durability.(this would really make psg crafting an ART)
Or the regen and max durability could be isolated to specific components... say max dura is based upon the quality of the deflector assembly and plate... leaving the quality of the artisan components to determine how fast a shield's condition can regenerate. (and THEIR durability could even play a small part in the final product... I think we'd see alot more people taking up Master Artisan... and a reason for getting 12 exp points)
Just brainstorming... can you tell I like experimenting?
