I have been collecting looted armor segments for a while now, and have some questions regarding how useful or valuable they really are in armor crafting. It seems sometimes its better/easier to just craft components for things than it is to try and use looted items if they really are not that good. Anyways, here is the list of segments I have collected. Comments on which ones are best and how they can be used would be appreciated.
Thank you

1) These ones sound like they might make some nice padded armor... but once again, how do the stats compare to crafted segments? Also, on padded armor can u still use other items, like the NS shards to reduce encumberance still farther?
8 x 12% Base 3650 Integrity 40% Heat 20% Cold Ranchor Padded Segments
17 x 12% Base 2500 Integrity 15% Heat/Cold Ranchor Padded Segments
2) These Krayt segments sound particularly nice. Am I understanding it correctly, that the 10650 integrity would add that much to the armor made with it???
10 x 10% Base 10650 Integrity Krayt Dragon Comp Armor Segments
2 x 10% Base 5000 Integrity Krayt Dragon Armor Segments
5 x 10% Base 5000 Integrity -7/-7/-7 Ham Kliknik Shells
2 x 10% Base 5000 Integrity Krayt Dragon Armor Segments
5 x 10% Base 5000 Integrity -7/-7/-7 Ham Kliknik Shells
3) These sound like they reduce the HAM cost really nicely. Is this correct? what types of armor can they be used with?
4 x -23/-31/25 NS Armor Shards
4 x -12/-15/-17 NS Armor Shards
4 x -12/-15/-17 NS Armor Shards
4) How useful are the remaining items? Are they any good or are they basically not worth the effort?
8 x 5% Base -6% Action NS Armor Shards
8 x 4% Cold/Blast/Energy/Acid/Kinetic/Heat Krayt Dragon Scales
13 x 8% Base 750 Integrity 7% Heat/Cold Kimogila Scales
11 x 4% Heat/Cold Kimogila Scales
2 x 6% Cold/Blast/Heat 4% Energy 5% Kinetic Krayt Dragon Scales
2 x 3% Base 1660 Integrity 7% Heat 6% Cold Ranchor Hides
13 x 3% Base Janta Hides
4 x 8% Base 750 Integrity 7% Heat/Cold Kimogila Scales
2 x 6% Cold/Blast/Heat 4% Energy 5% Kinetic Krayt Dragon Scales
4 x 8% Base 750 Integrity 7% Heat/Cold Kimogila Scales
8 x 3% Base Janta Hides
2 x 7% Base 635 Integrity 6% Energy 7% Kinetic Voritor Lizard Scales
7 x 5% Base 500 Integrity 5% Energy 6% Kinetic Voritor Lizard Scales
8 x 8% Cold 7% Blast/Heat 5% Energy/Cold/Acid/Kinetic Krayt Dragon Segments

The problem with most of the loots is that unless they are very good a smith can craft better. Another thing is that looted segments can't be layered. You still have the enhancement slot for NS shards, janta hides, or the like, but its limiting.
For refrence on the Krayt segments, my regular unlayered segments were 19% base, so yours would make for some high condition armor, but the resists would not be that hot. Nice for a AA holder though, thats what they usually are used for.
Padded armor, well....Padded sucks. Its possible to make it good, but its much more of a pain to make then composite is. A smith who actually can stomach making padded can do better than those looted segments.
Nightsister shards are good. Lower HAM is always nice, even though buffs have made encumbrence irrevelent. They are used in the enhancement slot, which everything has.
Nightsister Layers are very nice, they can have much higher base than regular layers, add no HAM cost and lower the action HAM. Its possible to make very high base composite that has low HAM with NS layers.
Krayt scales are a double edged sword, they go in the enchancement slot so they don't take up a layer slot, but each stat they add to gets moved to the special protections line. Basicly you end up with a suit with higher resists, but one were an effectiveness slice is useless, cause there is nothing left in general protections. They have their uses though, if you can make some high base comp then add a krayt scale, you can come out with armor where all the stats are high.
Janta hides add their percent to the base (and the special protection too I think, not positive but pretty sure). Pure and simple.

The vort scales are useful in bumping thekinetic specials on chitin, padded, and ubese... 80% is highly sought after.
If you use krayt scales, pray for an encum slice as eff is pointless... useful for plugging vulnerability holes and such.
I'm collecting kliknik shells currently for the CU... if they nerf the others bad lightweight chitin might become popular (and pricy
)
Nightsister layered and sharded armor is a PITA to make, but there really isnt anything comparable to a 90% base sliced helm with 230 Mind HAM (and yes, I have one)
Kimo scale segments are used in bone armor, and are currently useless. The scale enhancers are useless at the moment too as nobody really needs heat and cold res... but I'm collecting them just in case.
You really should give a break down of the number of identical janta/rancor hides you have... as the stack size is important in determining just WHAT you can make for padded, ubese, and composite armors... they require multiple factory made components which inevitably end up wasting a loot item.
