Thread: Getting into AS

How much you got? If you are starting from scratch, expect to spend at least 5-10 mil, and thats prob just for unlayered armor. If you are going to make faction armor and don't have any FP saved up, expect to spend 110 cpp, with a set of schematics costing about 12k FP.
So I would say 10 mil to be safe and productive. You will easily make your money back, the hardest part is going to be finding the stuff ![]()

you need:
- Faction Points
- Factories (at least i'd say....6)
- Tailor Sub-Components
- Hides...and lots of them
- Metals...and lots of them
- Gemstone
then, you need to beable to price your armor with respect to what others on the server sell for. right now, is about the only time that you can get away with selling poorly made armor, as a lot of people are not aware of what is good. personally, i only sell the best i can make.
with that being said, i am in the same boat as you are. i got into armorsmith after the CU (respeced my buff bot to armorsmith/master ID/4000 smuggler).
i would say if you have 40-50m to invest, its probably safe. then again, it also depends on what you wish to accomplish. i would bet i spent close to 75m to get in, and i am also a longtime weaponsmith and had access to a lot of overlapping resources.
Lots of new smiths I know are struggling to make it. I spent about 25m to get into AS overa year ago. I spent another 25m after the CU to be able to maintain a good output of armor...
Choose your poison..
Honestly man, unless you really, really want to do it, I would not even bother. It is a huge pain in the behind, not only for specific AS reasons, but also many general problems that all crafters face. I would agree that 10 mil is about the right amount, plus you will have to wait for a lot of the specific resources to spawn well, so it could be several months until you get set up.
And Guild Wars is quite good.

At least 10 million is needed to get started, but realistically to compete in the high end market it takes months of surveying & harvesting resources, and alot of cash to back it up.
good luck
i am AS since i dont know when and dont have much time to spend on crafting...its a pain in the a*s to get the new resources together. i collected resources for 1,5 years and then the launch this thing called CU. more than half of my resources are crap. thanx devs.
AS use to be my full time profession, now it's kind of a side thing for me. It's still enjoyable, just a lot more work getting everything together.
You are going to need a lot of credits to get started in AS, even if you are going to respec. Resource requirments are insane.
