Pre CU ris can indeed be broken down. When you do it, you get a RIS segment, which is the only thing needed to craft RIS now aside from normal battle armor parts. Gloves and boots cannot be broken down, so you will need a few new scales/bone frags/gurk king hides if you want to change the color scheme on your armor. To get the stats you want, you will need 4x primus-layered armor. A good smith will be able to craft the final pieces out at 6500+ kin/en and 5500 elemental. RIS will craft out with the same resists as any piece of mundane battle armor, so perhaps ask the smith what resiststhey hit with quad primus battle as an acid test. The condition depends mostly (or possibly wholly) upon the resources used for the final combine. Also, if youw ant health enhancements, you will want to have many krayt scales and 1 post-CU lootedpeko feather per piece.

ditto. I broke down several pieces yesterday after finishing the quest and remade them. Goes from 45k condition to 90k in my case. Well worth it.

They are no longer better. They can still be crafted,ut the end product has no stats (just like the new ris segments), so the armor is no different. They dumbed RIS down way too much
