Thread: Has this been suggested before?

Don't flame me if it has...

But it seems to me that many times I go to a tailor vendor and may see articles of clothing that I may wish to purchase other than the fact that the coloring does not suit my taste. In fact, it's a real pain for me to find color schemes that I'm looking for at any given time, and whenever I come around to having to search out a tailor to have my stuff custom made I always seem to have to find out a new tailor because my previous one always seems to no longer be in the biz (or the game).

So I'm thinking wouldn't it be nice if they allowed tailors to make coloring kits, kinda like the ones used for vehicles? That way it wouldn't matter what color the clothing item on the vendor is, if that vendor sells coloring kit's I'd buy it anyway.

I think this would increase tailor sales because there had been many times that I would walk away from a seemingly well stocked vendor when I had the intention of buying clothes because they had nothing that suited me color wise.

Just an Idea....It seems to be such a simple and basic idea that I'm sure someone has brought it up before, but I thought I'd just put it out there.

Yeah we've actually discussed this a lot before. Here is the "past discussions" section of our link directory. The third through sixth links on that post are the past discussions you're looking for.

I'm not sure about this.. It would put me out of business..

If people want to customize their clothes, wouldn't it be better to get tailor then?

I disagree,

Like I stated above, I've walked away from many heavily stocked vendors just because the color scheme didn't suit my taste. My shopping habits in game reflect my shopping habits in real life. As I guy I like to get it done and out of the way as quick and conveniently as possible. Although I have tracked down tailors to custom make clothes for me before, it's a big hassle and takes gaming time away from me when I'd prefer to be doing something else.

If I can't easily find what I'm looking for I just end up making do with what I can find cheaply off of the bazar or something and be on my way. Die kits would be made by tailors and so would the majority of clothes we will be coloring with them. Paint kit's have not put Droid engineers, Master Artisans, or Shipwrights out of business, it just provides them with another means of income.

If I'm at your vendor and I see an article of clothing that I like but it doesn't suit my color taste, and you have coloring kits then I'm going to stay there and buy both from you. Saves me hassle, makes you sales.

Yeah, but the best part of being a tailor (IMO) is not just stocking your vendor and hoping for sales. It's spending 10-15mins, face to face (so to speak) with another toon finding just the right color and clothing combnations. If you dont see the color you want, dont just walk away, send a /tell to the tailor. Most are more than willing to help you out!

My argument against dye kits has to do with the the highlighted line. The tailoring profession is unique in that we can make ourclothing colored as we intend for the final product. We enjoy coming up with different combinations and unusual color schemes. Some tailors have fashion lines dedicated to a certain color family or scheme. People wear clothes because of the color, which is the primary function (besides fashion) for clothing. I'm not counting BE clothing, as this is kind of a separate issue from a fashion standpoint.

I do understand where you are coming from. It is frustrating to not be able to find matching items or the exact item you are looking for on a vendor. But if you send us a /tell or mail, it give us the opportunity to provide you with exactly the clothing you're looking for,and we are able to do our job, which is to allow you to customize your look and walk away knowing you got exactly what you wanted. I know tailors are sometimes willing to travel to meet you wherever you are to facilitate the transaction (maybe with travel costs covered). Give us a chance to do our job, and hopefully your experience will be a good one.

You mention perhaps the number one reason that I dont stock many clothing items on my vendors. I pretty much just stock bread and butter items. Things that sell easily, paramilitary pants (forest, desert, urban) and all the accessories and jackets for those schemes. They sell very consistantly. The whole paramilitary line is worth keeping stocked, er well not the whole thing but many items from there.

I personally dont bother with stocking anything from either the casual wear line or formal wear line. Its simply impossible to come up with consistant sellers from those lines, theres a huge array of colors and every person has different skin tone. So as a Tailor my choice is to either do multiples of several items all different colors and risk having things sitting there for ever or just skip it. Only exception being some foot wear items, gloves, etc.

So... I pretty much do one customer at a time personally, that way they get what they want and I get a customer.

Dye kits? I can see why some people would like them, but they would be an incredible blow to us active tailors. The social aspect of tailor is a big reason that a lot of us are in this business in the first place.

I'm not an armorsmith (or a crafter of any type for that matter) so I don't follow the discussions on the armorsmith board so aI apologize if this has already been suggested. I did have a thought today however and was curious if anyone had made a suggestion of it to the Devs. I'd like to see the armorsmiths get a "refit" option. What this would do is one time only allow a suit of armor be refitted to make it change it's classification so that non-certed people could wear it. So, if I really wanted to wear that nice suit of, say for example, Clone armor I'd have to get my local armorsmith to refit it to me making it either recon or assault armor with appropriate stats. I feel this is only fair since the current system stops so many people from choosing the armor they'd really like to wear based on what type of gun they shoot as well asthe terrible decision to make the new quest items drops instead of schematics. Again, sorry if this is an old idea, I'd just like to see armorsmiths gain something from the new expansion as well as being able to wear some nice armor without wrecking the template I've been playing since launch.
