Thread: Energy recon advice, what is better for jedi hunting?

Hi,

I am about to start a small run of energy recon armor and would value some input from other smiths and the bounty hunter community on which option is best. I know that lightsabers do energy, but also know that force powers do kinetic.

I have made 45 primus layers and 95 energy layers and can cap recon base on unlayered armor. After a bit of playing around with segments/cores/bracers with all energy, all primus and a mix and working out resists, I have come up with the following options, have left out resist decimals:

A. All energy recon

energy 8141 (56%)

kinetic 3859 (35%)

base 6000 (48%)

B All primus recon

energy 7547 (54%)

kinetic 5547 (45%)

base 5453 (45%)

C Energy/primus twin (2+2) recon

energy 7844 (55%)

kinetic 4703 (40%)

base 5726 (46%)

Obivously, optionA will sell best to folks who just look at the numbers and don't appreciate the non linear number vs resist equation. However, it strikes me that optionsB andC are much better since for a small reduction in energy you get a big boost in kinetic and force protection. Any thoughts? How prevalent is force power usage? How much does a 2% energy resist difference matter?

A = Easiest to sell

B = Best overall resists

Lets face it, if you and I put a shop next door to each other and I sold A and you sold B. I would sell out and you would get people asking you why you cant produce great armour like the man next door who can go over 8000 energy and still hit the 6000 SP cap.

Then you would spend 30 mins explaining to the customer the difference only to be told that he may come back later now they know.

Primus are the best layers for the current fighting system...but then again, the best saleable mass market armour is simply unlayered capped.

For a jedi hunting suit why would you go with B or C. Since sabers do energy and A blocks ~2% more energy clearly it is the better choice.

How much difference can 2% make? Look at how much damage a jedi can deliver in say2 minutes. How much is 2% of that? Lets say they do 250 dps. That is about 600 points or 2-3 heals. Ever win or lose a fight where just a few points of ham is the difference?

But most powers do kinetic damage. Not so sure only energy is the way to go, specialy since sabar damage is so low right now (at least so the jedi claim) that many will use normal guns instead.

yea, jedi can do kinetic damage my friend, BH are slowly starting to figure that out, that is why when I do my BHing I prefer battle armor

Hi,

Thanks for the input. Billy, I know exactly what you mean, option A would be the best seller. Reminds me of the discussion I had once with a combat person about the merits of a 5% stun layer for nightsister fighting

Monroe, you must have got out of the wrong side of bed I know how significant 2% can be, I guess I wasn't clear in the rest of my message. I have never fought a jedi, hence why I was looking for adviceI want to make sure the armor I make is well matched to the task in hand, I hate making mis matched stuff

Here are my bunch of if's

1. If force powers do kinetic (pretty sure most of themdo, from jedi forum)

2. If force powers have significant damage potential (no idea, waiting for confirmation, info on jedi board is pretty vague but indicates they are quite a bit weaker than sabers)

3. If force power use is becoming prevalent (no idea again, but the jedi board suggests sabers are weaker now?)

4. Then max energy potential might not be the best choice for overall damage reduction if you face a jedi who uses a mix of sabers and force. Maybe this jedi build is becoming more common now rather than the master ls build?

Justapilgrim, thanks for your input. Sounds like you have been on the sharp end So you would lean towards B or C then?

Jedi damage is not low. With my 8108 energy suit I was still taking over 300 damage a hit. That means they are doing as much as most other high end weapons. They are used to doing more damage than us, not just as much, so in their mind their sabers are weak.
