HI Guys before you ask no im not an armoursmith but a lowly bountyhunter, my question is this though... Which armour type is better overall. Recon armor or Battle? Please keep in mind that your answers will determine which proffesion I choose from Rifles or Carbines.

it honestly depends what you fight, if you just fight gunners id go recon ( rifles ) , if you plan on doing a bit of gunner and a bit of MOB, id go battle ( carbs ) , battle is all around protection , you can get 6400+ K/E 5400+B on a battle suit BUT recon has 8000+E/3900K and 6000B, gonna have to decide, if ur bh though you get the assault thats high kin the opposite of recon , u can go rifles and just change up suits on what ur fighting , with a good macro ( if they still work havent tried in forever ) changing 9 pieces will take but a matter of seconds /shrug

You profession decision should by no means be based solely off your armor choices.
That being said, under average construction practices, recon is good for energy damage/low kin resists, battle is average across the board, assault is good for kin with low energy resists.
Now, the reason armor should not be defining your template is that recon can be stacked up with kinetic layers, likewise assault can be stacked with energy layers that will balance out the resists a little bit.
There is alot of demand for max energy layered recon armor. This is because sabers deal in energy damage, and most ranged weapons are energy based. However, most things in the CU now follow rules of diminishing returns, what this means is that adding 100 resists to a base 3K armor will make MORE of a difference to that peice than adding 100 to a base 6K armor. So, under most situations I do not agree with the masses who want stat capped recon armor for jedi hunting. Alot of jedi are smart enough to drag your happy arse into a lair full of aggro and laugh while those cats eat through your pitifull kinetic resists. So it could be said that battle will work well, but again, resists on armor can be tweaked and finessed in different ways.
So, in closing I suggest you focus on specials and profession skill mods in determining what profession to take up. Your armor will not help you kill things.
