Thread: What do I experiment on to get 65% base effectiveness?

At the moment, using triple layers, the highest I can get is 53%. What points do I spend on the layers and what do I spend on the composite armor segments to get the 65%?

Thats a good question- just made master and followed the instructions in Jaato's guide. THis is what i did:

Layers: Fill up Durability, rest in special effectiveness (i tried rest inbase but that only seemed to get the base up a % or 2)

Segment: Fill up base, rest in durability

Piece: Fill up base, rest in durability.

With this i was only able to get the base up to about 58%- maybe my resources arent good enough. I suppose if you filled the layer up to base all the way and the rest in durability u could get the base pretty high but it would be heavy as heck. Any experienced masters input would be nice.

you put that much in durability, what is the encumberance like on your armor?

I had a similar issue, what I was doing was pumping everything into Durability for the Layers, with the remainder in special effectivness. Everything into resists on the segment, and everything into resists and and durability on the final piece.

I ended up with 6% Kinetic 2% Base 2/2 cost kinetic segments then something like 25% Base 20-25% Kinetic Segments (i think, might have been 30), my final armor came out with only 55% Base Effectivness and 74-75% Kinetic or somethng like that. I ended up using 2 of the 62/2 Cost Layers and one 13 Kinetic 12/12 HAM cost Layer in later pieces, and got to 55% Base 80% Kinetic and still reasonable Hams (BP was 240ish health or so). Sells well as a PvE Armor anyway.

Now, from what I gather i dont need my Kinetic Effectivness that high on my Segments to hit 80, but I could not get it above 25% without incresing the base effectivness of my layers, which would have been a much larger jump in HAM cost. I have been expermenting a bit and upgraded a couple of my resources and am hitting about 59% now on Base effectivness with my old set up.

Hope some of that helps, sort of new at this myself.

Experiment the base on layers, segments and final combine to get the high base %. I love making 3 layer electric layeredcomposite, as the special will easily max at 80% and the base about 65%. This leaves everything to be sliced over 85% with a half decent effectiveness slice.

I hope this goes without saying, but you should make sure you are using the Advanced Composite Segment Schematic and not the regular composite schematic.

65% base is done by maxing out base on layers. You're layers should be 4% plus (don't stop at 4, max the line out). The extra bit is added together into the segment. To hit 65% your base segment should be about 29-30% or so. With 33% segments I'm getting 69-70%, but it depends on the quality of your final combine ingredients too.

Ihave just made my new segments, getting 37 base protection on the advanced composite segments.

From these segments i can get 68 percent base protection, 80 percent cold and 78 percent electric.

I use cold protection layers so that people can slice it up , i find that the resources were easier to find for cold protection.

There are some people who make 80 percent electric on my server with 69 percent base.

Can you do this trick with stun protection layers?

Reasoning: If you use electric layers, you get super high electric resist (it's a special protect), and high base. Special protects don't slice, but who cares? Everything goes up on the effect slice. If you use cold layers, cold protects go into special, and don't slice, while everything else does. So far, the armor is still like no armor at all vs. stun. With stun layers, you move stun from vuln to special protect, and will be able to "slice up" everything but that and electrical.

Sound valid?

This was the kinda thinking I was doing too. Chuck stun layers on which are experimented for base, and you get your added base, AND you get a wee little bit of stun and nothing extraneous moved to special protection. Win/win.
