I was wondering what specy should I choose to get the best and most out of when I go into the armorsmith tree.....

Yeah,
Probably human fora fewreasons. One is the bonus in the Artisan tree, which will give you 1 extra experimentation point on BONE Armor. Andanotheris the ability to change your secondary stats alot to wear armor. Lastly, only Human/Zabrak can wear the Tantel Helmet, if you wanna show that one off ever.
I am a Twi'lek too, and it is a pain to always have to have to make noodles for myself (cheaper than buying em) just to put on my full suit of padded, or even light-composite (unlayered) cause my stamina stat is capped at 400.
Wookie might be a good choice now, cause they actually are gonna have a few suits of armor, and they fight pretty well, which can help you get hides, and they are original.

I seem to be doing just fine as a twi'lek, I don't think there's any benifits to being any race when it comes to armorsmith. Though if you're human or zabrak you'll have an easier time getting your stats so you can wear your armor to show it off (I have to eat noodles just so I can wear my padded armor around)

Humans get a bonus on the artisan tree that results in an extra experimentation point. This is nice when crafting in that tree. I use it for armor repair kits and power-ups.
The bonus doesn't have anything to do with armor, other than Bone though.
