I believe Every Armor should have a set max defensive rating

Bone: Max defensive Rating 15%

Mabari: Max defensive Rating 20%

Chitin: Max Defensive Rating 25%

Tantel: MAx Defensive Rating 30%

Ubese: Max Defensive Rating 35% Wookiee Armor 1

Padded: Max Defensive Rating 40% Wookiee Armor 2

Composite: Max Defensive Rating 50% Wookiee Armor 3

Allow for Loot Dropped Segments, and Layers to reduceencumberance or Increase Durability or both based on the level of the creature it was looted from...

why cant i use Voritor Lizard Hide in composite? it is a "Hide" Why cant i use Bageraset Plating in Chittin? it is a "Plate"

Make the organic drops "hides , bones, wood" static... if you have a pine tree it always gives you the same quality wood... a sappling may be more malable than say a 1000 year old elder but the trees in the game dont grow or get old... a rabbit always has rabbit fur... it doesnt change... Range it on the creature difficulty making the harvests from the end level planets the best... Rancor / Kimo / Krayt (the only exsessivly difficult creatures i can think of) would obviously drop the best bones hides and meats.

A bit more explanation on top... If i hire a ranger to goto Dathomir and get me Rancor Leather... it should be some top quality stuff All the time... versus it being a generic dathomirian leather hide... this would give the low level scouts soemthing to do / shoot for... if a rancor is 90% resistanct to energy why does the armor i make using the hides from a rancor possibly not have any energy resist..???? also put into play creature size versus ammount harvested count.. and make it so a ranger can get all 3 resource types ... i mean if i go out and skin a deer, the meat and bones are still there why can i not grab those also? anbd if a creature is fully harvested the corpse disappears... instead of staying around for 30 seconds or whatever... All in all making the organic resources a static thing would in essence give the lower level harvesters and smiths more business on the starter planets, and require the Master Armorsmiths who want to make the best stuff to hire / work toward getting the top quality stuff...

maybe not the best proposal but i just hit Master armorsmith about a week ago and have yet to sell a single peice of armor... all of my money went into gathering the resources needed to get to master, between running harvesters, factories, and buying hides (I am not a scout or a warrior) and now i have some decent suits of armor but all anyone wants is 80% Kinetic Composite or 80% stun Composite... I cant make any of this stuff yet because i havent seen most of the resources needed for it... and the already settled masters have stockpiles of it...

this next thing is gonna get me shot....

I believe all resources should slowly rot away... every resource has a decay rating... and NOTHING in the game is based on decay rate... this would stop or at least slow down the massive P.A.'s strip mining 5 million of a good resource... and then trying to charge 50cpu for it when it doesnt spawn for a month... it would also give a reason for selling quickly if your a resource vendor, instead of stocking stuff for 4 weeks that just wont sell...

One flaw in you plans that i see. Right now, armor is on max rating scale. That is why everyone wears composite armor. You are just reducing the percentage but not solving the overall problem. there needs to be different resistant qualities to each armor type so some are better at resisting one type of damage while other are better at other types of damage.

the major problem is compostite is the end all, protect all, defend against all armor and the other types are equal to themselves. need to make compostite equal to the others. not keepit still uber to the others.

The second major problem is the way combat is balance, or should i say unbalanced. as soon as it is balanced out with armor being balanced the composite wars will be at an end. just give it time and everything will be different

What are some of the Combat Balances being proposed that will affect armor? Will they finally make other types of armor useful??? Also, I sure would like for some variety here.... different types of unique pieces... change common designs around... etc. I hate everyone in the galaxy looking like composite warriors... so generic... so unlike Star Wars

The problem with composite isn't so much that the % is way higher than everything else, it's that it has less resistances. This is why Geno pistols, jawa rifles and stun batons sell the way they do... when there is a 'meta' for competitive play, there will always be an 'antimeta'. In this case, the meta defense is always composite, therefore the antimeta will naturally be stun weapons.

In order to have a balance between the armors, there cannot be one armor type that is dominant in every given situation.

There just needs to be more individuality in this profession, heck in all professions.... SOE thinks to linearly.... Armor needs to be more customizable.... right now we just have a slew of Composite/Ubese Armor Vendors in every galaxy.... pretty much we are Armor Factories rather than Armorsmiths
