This can easily be balanced out by charging more. Also we will not need to make as many sets as we did before. The days of everyone buying 10 sets of armor at a time to get a perfect "Sliced to 90 base" will be over.

Quizz wrote:

So there are a few new resources we need? Who cares were all in the same boat. Looks as if those resource "hoarders" from the past year will be fine as it looks since a lot of them should carry over fine.

Hmm the current process (with the exception or RIS) for current armor still conists of grinding out and amazing and pushing the base to the highest. Not a whole lot of thought involved in that- not much different than the cu method.

You whats not fair either? A TKM is more powerful than a TK Novice. A TK Novice should be just as strong as a TKM in combat.

speaking of that, myself and the TKM correspondent just got into a scuffle, i threw a left hook at him, but his new inate armor nullified me (and our profession) away.

Currently we have 3 lines, special, base and encumbrance. It is only for composite you we are only maxing base, for the rest you had to balance base, special and encumbrance. Or is it so long since you made anything else than comp that you have forgotten already?

Still, with careful experimentation you could get those extra points into base, or reduce the encumbrance to equal half a brandy as someone else put it. Now we are not experimenting, we are assembling. Every armor will be a clone stat wise.

This is not intended as a flame, but your statement indicates that you apparently have not taken the time to explore all the options we have today. Options that will be completly removed in the CURB. If you have paid attention to the threads, you will see that the dumbing down isthe #1 concern amongst the AS. You are actually the first one favoring it, I will give you credit for that...

Actually Rocky is one of the better "experimenting" smiths that I'm aware of, so this whole thread seems more like a way to get some attention hence the /flame away comment. Correct me if I'm wrong Rocky, but you won't miss the I crafted the "First of it's kind" posts and the challenge it took to make them?

I can further add to this by saying , I only specialize in Wookie Armors. It by nature is a very time consuming armor to craft do to the resource requirements. However, when i am crafting it, i focus on the base resist and the encumberance of the armor. This to me is criticial in preserving the wookie's speially added bonus of more ham as a species. That may sound out on a limb, but when your crafting armor with very low enc for them, it makes a world of a difference with the lack of armor they can wear and their regen rates.

I will not miss having to grind out amazings I can tell you that much.

From my perception of the new process is there are more steps in making the armor now- wouldnt this replace the the different experiment lines?

With post CU is seems you have to get creative in what layers and such you use replacing the grind to get those dbl and triple amazings.

Rocky.... I would have thought you, of all people, wouldn't be in favor of these changes. I'm kinda mystified. With the changes in the system as it exists now, everyone can easily answer your SIG question... Yes. My armor is built rocky tough, no matter who it was made by, no matter if they've put forth effort in collecting resources and/or loot, no matter if they've bothered to level the armorsmith profession. The answer will always be yes, my armor, of any make and crafter, is Rocky tough.

I guess you're looking forward to seeing your armor become undifferentiated gruel, maybe? Right now, you have a solid name-brand on our server, but these changes will blend your exceptional armors in with the rest of the pablum.

Yea no doubt things will change....

From what ive read (and yes I have been following the changes closely) I do see a lot of oppurtuinty to become creative in the new system.

Furthermore, the current armor system was one of the reasons I quit playing - so i do welcome change.

See, I should have read more. NO. more steps does not replace 3 exp lines. think about this... have you ever made powerups as a master artisan? You get 10 points and 1 line. amazing success or not, you *always* have at least 2 points left over after you craft up to 99% on those things. Everything is dependant on where your resources cap you. So...

99% layers into segements... experimented to 99%... into cores experimented to 99%... into appearances experimented to 99%.

What we'll see now is all armor is "perfect". No wabi sabi. No specialized armor (low HAM, low protection). nothing. Undiferentiated Pablum.

Unless you HOLD BACK some of your experimentation points, because Encumberance and Hinderance are directly proportional to the protection now. So the ONLY choice we get is how many experimentation points to NOT spend. Making low HAM armor in the new system means NOT EXPERIMENTING at all! /boggle?!

Maybe you're just really looking forward to turning all your armors into Mardi Gras costumes with "Feathered Appearance Enhancements" or something...

Luv ya rocky!

I have strived to match your armors since I began, and I don't want that to happen because the system becomes too easy.
