Thread: If loot is supposed to be the new way to good armor... Why do these numbers not add up?

OK, so I've been putting away various enhancements for armor for the past couple months in preparation for the CU. I know that loot items are going to be stackable after the CU, but my question has to do with serial numbers, and drop sizes of these loots. While looking at the number of components needed for armor with even the lowest requirements the numbers look very strange to me.

Lets look at a making an advanced bone armor chest:

3 Cores x 3 Segs per core = 9Segs + 3 Segs for the Core Schematic = 12 Segs

Now lets say you want to add an enhancer to this item:

1 Enhancer for the Seg Schematic + 12Enhancements for theSegs(Core Schem and Cores) = 13Identical Segment Enhancers

This is for just 1 piece of armor and I'm not even going to get intothe numbers for some of the pieces that require5 or even7 Cores. AndI think we can say goodbye to looted NS Layers. Even using1 Looted Layerper Seg you're still looking at13Identical Layers. This means that one of a few things must be happening with the CU. 1.Looted components willall have the same stats and work almost likea resource so they are interchangeable. 2.The serial numbers of the components don't matter and it's only the stats on them that make them considered "identical" and useable by a factory. 3. Components will start dropping in much larger lots..... Or 4. (my thoughts) They didn't completely think through this new system.

Now I've been over these numbers a bunch of times and I hope I'm missing something. If they posted something stating to how segment enhancers are going to work in this regard can someone please point me to it because I honestly don't see how "fiddling with the small add-ons you can put into the crafting" as Blix put it is going to work in the new system.

Number 3. When we redid the way components drop and added the stacking we also upped the number that can drop. The old max of 11 is gone.

Wow, thanks for the quick reply Blix. Any chance we can get word on what the new cap is? Mabari Chest we're looking at25 needed Seg enhancers for 1 advanced chest. Thats a heck of a lot of identical components. And also doesn't this mean that most of our old looted components wont be any good for this stuff come CU because they aren't in big enough lots?

They get converted over with the new modifiers on them, generally the tougher the mob it came from, the higher the value. There is nothing you have to do, just log in and it should be converted.

Yeah, looks like the existing loot enhancers are all going to go into bits and pieces of armor.... think of a Frankenstein kinda suit. Unless when they convert the existing stuff they multiply the amount existing by 2 or 3....

Yeah, that's what I was afraid of, all of my good janta hide, NS Layers + Shards (If they are converted to anything useful at all) are going to all be in biceps and bracers from the looks of it. Such a waste.

sounds good

and thanks Blixtev for already changing OQ+UT to OQ+SR on TC-EP3. Grinding works fine. I think you got the new advancement curse just right.

The problem is, why should we have to be dependent on loot drops just to make armor? It should be a boon to having them, but not to make the armors that are going to be needed in order to play the game. Even with the increase in the amt of loot that drops, its still rediculous. I mean, come on, in order to make decent runs of armor in factories or even hand make of the armor, ur only going to be able to do so much. We are now going to be in the same boat as weaponsmiths in that, they had to pay unrealistic prices to get the loots they needed to make their weapons and in turn, the customer base is going to see armor that was normally 200k now going for 1 mil or more.

This lame update was illthought out and ill needed. And if the devs cant see it, then they are dumber than I thought.

I didn't read the posts that followd this, but I have a question:

If loot is going to drop in, say, 13 identicals, are they going to be pre-crated for us, or are armor loot drops going to monopolize our inventory?
