Thread: What the heck is going on with armor repair???
Who would ever buy new armor, if the old one can be repaired without condition loss all the time? There has to be decay.
Maybe the success on repair have to be adjusted a bit to be 20% minor blemishes, 75% reduced condition and 5% 'falls apart' - but some decay must exist.
It's good the way it is.
Heh.. "Repair" is a joke... Armor takes decay from use, then again from a death (unlike weapons), then takes a huge hit from "repairing".
As a master with +12 in armor repair SEA's and using 100% repair tools, ubese will last 2 repairs at most, and composite will be getting pretty pathetic after 3 repairs. I destroy around 15-20% of pieces and get maybe 5% "minor blemishes" (which still results in a hit of a couple k of condition on an average composite piece). The rest of my repairs are split between average and marginal repairs.
As a comparison, my hunting alt has his favorite T21 which started with an 890 condition, the rifle is now being retired with a 330 condition... in the same amount of time he has chewed up4 full ubese chests each having an initial condition of just over 11,000 each.
... of course on the plus side the insanely high decay on armor does mean I can feed and cloth both toons nicely ![]()

Hmm, interesting thought - I did repair my 1st gen (lair-beater) saber with 'reduced' success - which dropped 1000 to 800, then my 5th gen saber with 'minor blemishes' from 1000 to 950 (really happy about that).
I've got about 6 chest-plates around 3000 / 19000condition - I'll try repairing those to see how they come out. Then, I'll try to remember to reply here afterwards - hehe....
- How does the effectiveness of a crating station or tool affect the outcome?
- Why does my survey device say it's maximum range is 384m but I can't set it above 320m?
- How does experimenting on a survey device affect it? (far as I can tell it doesn't)
- Does experimenting on Control Units, Power Conditioners, Energy Distributors, Micro Sensor Suites matter?
- If experimenting on these components matters why can't we tell the difference between one with 1% experimental effectiveness and one with 99%?
- etc.
Instead of helping us understand these simple issues, and perhaps solving some problems, the devs spend their time using the "Sledgehammer of Tweaking" and the "Bat of Nerfing".
I'll climb down off my soapbox now...
