You don't need any skills besides the ones you need to craft the item as you normally would. Go buy a crafting station or a droid with a crafting station, and create your drafting schematics, as opposed to the prototype item. The draft schematic will be placed in your datapad and will be ready for use when you buy and drop a factory somewheer, and you don't need any skills, just 1 plot available. It need maintenance and power to run and will only take power when your using it.

With your factory setup and your schematic made, drop the schematic into the factory (it's an option when you have one in your datapad) and then fill the 'ingrediant hopper' with the resources you use to make the scheatic. So say you want to make 100 Biological Effect Controllers, you'd need +600 resources of each type (more than 600 because the schemadic uses up some when you craft that)

Now heres the important part: Just like when you need the same resources to craft a single part, you need the sameparts to craft a more advanced items, determined by serial numbers. So in order to make 100 Stim B's, you'd first need to craft 100 BEC's100 LS's100 CRDM's with the factory and use those crates to make the drafting schemadic for the B's. This can sometimes be annoying considering you can't make exactely 100 Stim b's (or even 1000) considering you have to use 1 of each in the drafting schematic.

It kinda sucks that you can't mix and match factory crates even if they do have the same qualities, yet what can you do?

Hope that helps, and i believe it usually takes around 4 hours or so to make 100 of something, well at least for me.

...and since you'll be using a Food and Chemical Factory, you could acquire a schematic for any food (bazaar or trade) that you couldn't normally craft on your own and drop it in along with the appropriate resources for a factory run. Limited to 100 items from here on, but it's still a decent amount.

Sorry --

I did a search in the stickied guides and couldn't find this basic question answered: what type of factories does an Armorsmith need?

I assume "wearables" but would that cover everything (aside from Tailor components)

Thanks!

(I ask cause someone has some for cheap right now and want to grab them if it turns out I will need them as a Master Armorsmith)

Wearables factories will cover most of your needs. If you want to make PSG's and AUK's you will want to get equipment factories too (the two master artisan components for psg's need the equipment factory).
