hello,
Im not sure if its been talked about here... but it has been discussed in the tailor forums quite a bit. Im interested in getting the armorsmith's opinon.
What do you guys think about armor "shells" or "replicas"?
these are basically a clothing item the looks like armor, but has no armor stats. They are simply for fashion (or decoration). Also, who should make these? It seems to me that most armorsmiths will have little to no interest in making or stocking these items as you guys have better things to spend your time and resources on. it also seems like these items would be more suited, in spirit anyways, to the tailor profession. however, these are "armor like" items.
your thoughts?

Well, I also suggested something like this before the CU. I thought perhaps we could just make the skins separately.
I don't think the devs would go for it because they want you to have an idea of what you're facing in combat. Just as you can tell the type of damage a weapon does by just looking at it, you can also have a pretty good idea of an armor's strength by its appearance. You know if you're fighting someone in clothes, they are probably a TKA and have center of balance. Likewise, someone in assault stands a good chance of being a BH and you should look out for duelist stance.
Now of course, none of this is absolute. You can easily be a BH in recon, but the armor does give you some measure of what you're facing.

Well, when armor hits 0 condition, it basically acts the same as normal clothing - You lose all resists.
However, theuseless armorwill still certed, whereas the clothing you are suggesting won't.
Meaning even a CL1 crafter could wear "armor-replica" clothing.
From a fasion point of view, I think it's great. But in reality, I don't think SOE will be willing to do the extra coding.
