Oh and remember to be patient at the start. I was extrememly confused when i started on the road to master armorsmith as I'd never crafted before. I looked at all the stickies and was still a bit confused. I was lucky and found a MA that explained some basic crafting principles and it really helped alot.

dont take this the wrong way.. but there is a reason why you need to start crafting at novice artisan crafting is the most complicated thing in the game.. and it will take you months even if you know what your doing before you can make a thing thats worth anything...(trust me i know this as i just started on a new server and want to be a shipwright.. and even with millions of credits i cant do a thing) Why they let people that had non-crafting resepec into crafting is beyond me.. it would be like me respecting outta armorer and going jedi..

Start with making artisan stuff and go from there.. it sounds boring but its the only way your going to learn

Also remember that it's going to take time and money to get started as an Armorsmith. I've been one now for the better part of a month and I'm still trying to find some of the resources I need.

Trust me, it's very overwhelming at first, but if you get some friends to help you collect resources, or donate you some credits(that is if you don't have enough, i personally did some sales on some of my old expensive stuff so that i could afford to start up)

Also, do the RIS armor quest. It doesn't take too long, just a few resources and the GDK scales/Gurk King Hides/Wollymander Bone/Peko Peko feathers. after that you can craft. If you can go out and collect the rare's yourself, you can make one or two and sell at a low price to get your name out there and to make some starter up money.

If you don't have all the resources for the battle cores etc. Don't hesitate to use looted cores. If you get the advanced ones they are pretty decent. Obviously the crafted ones will be better(and can have health bonus's if you get the right loot) but if you're having trouble finding some of the resources then this is definatly a good alternative.

And also, if you can't find really good resources, use some worse ones mixed with better resources to find out what kind of stats you can get. I find that I can get very close to the cap with some of my sub par resources(example the cap for quad layerd segments is 1000... I think, please correct me if i'm wrong, and i can get my segments up to 971) Don't hesitate to use a 30k resource kit, but be careful what you use it for, if you get the wrong resource, you may run out of it very quickly. Again, example is if you get Neutronium Steel(rare resource on wanderhome) you will run out of it quickly as neutronium steel is used to make Primus Layers(which you will go through a lot of) If you get for example dant wooly hide(resource used for battle cores) you can use that to make over 600 cores, those 600 cores will go a lot further then putting the same 30k resources into neutronium steel for your layers(30k Neutronium steel will only get you about 1200 primus layers, of which can make 300 segments(all quad layered) which only makes 100 Cores, where as using it for say dant wooly would get you 6 times the use... of course if there is no neutronium steel, there is no neutronium steel and you may need it anyway)

Hope that helps.

Wow, the last 2 replies were great!

Anyway, here's my advice.

If you're starting from scratch, and are poor, start harvesting the resources you need asap. When I started AS, it took me 4 months of harvesting everything myself to be able to reach triple-80 composite (which back then was a very high target). I never purchased a single unit of any resource so my cost was minimal.

Don't craft too much armor at one time since you won't be able to sell it fast enough. You'll constantly be getting better resources as you go down the road and will be upgrading your armor every now and then.

It'll take time to get extablished and your name known. It's not an overnight thing so don't expect a get-rich-quick thing here. You need to understand the profession, be able to answer all your customer's questions, understand the calculations used in crafting, etc. to gain trust from your customers. Once you got that down, you'll start getting custom ordersand perhaps a few bulk orders.

If you're rich, then that's a different story...

Just buy all the best resources and take it from there.

It'll still take you some time to get recognized, but at least you're competitive from day 1.

READ THE FORUMS.

This is your best friend.

The smiths here are extremely helpful and the info you can gather is superb.

Just reading the top page every few days is more than enough to answer most of your questions.

NEVER be afraid to ask what you don't know.

I been making great recon cores, using quad layered primus an the final stat on the segs is 1049 so I dont think cap is 1000. Or im beating it then

For Segments:

Unlayeredmax is 1000.
Quad-Primusmax is1150.

Quad-Ene or Quad-Kinmax is1300.

The only way to reach this in segments is to use perfect resources.

You can never go overboard when making segments.

However, youCAN go overboard when making the cores.

This is where the actual "caps" kick in.

5600 base is the cap for unlayered.

Anything over that is a waste.
