Okay so I recently find myself to be guildless... long story old leader left new leader disbanded the guild without asking us.... blah blah blah....

With my vendors being on an out of they way location (Talus)and being charged 2% tax but havingbeing in a mall right in front of a shuttleport. Mall is perhaps anover statement because my vendors would appear to be the only ones bringing business in.I find myself a little unsure on the best strategy to approach the continuation of my armorsmith career. I'm going to throw in some ideas I'm tossing around and would appreciate some input back from you guys on what you think or how you went about your set up.

idea one would be to find a fairly flat spot as close as I can get to a trafficed town like Mos Eisly and put down my houses and factories there and set up shop? allowing me to avoid that 2% tax that messes with my pricing. Low level mobs so if something wanders into my area it may not kill my crafter first blow and easier access to characters of all CL...

Idea two - I have been offered a vendor spot in a mall on Dantooine close to village I believe. Lots of vendors here bringing in traffic, More competition for customer though and would require traveling with my armor to the vendor through higher level mobs.

Ideathree stay right where I am eat the tax and hope the town doesn't disband or the mall owner doesn't flake out.

Another thing that sticks out in my head is that it would certainly be bad career move to remain unguilded for long as a guild provides a certain amount of materials I will need and a starting group of contacts when you need to have items gathered and of course a steady base group of customers.

okay there are my thoughts, I have capped rebel recon armor coming about to come out of my factories and no idea where I'm going to put it LOL. So lets here from your guys your thoughts on these ideas, Your experiences or even ideas of your own about the best way to build the armorsmith career.

Btw...continuing from the other discussion...this post is fine here.

Idea one is okay, but it might be a little hard to find a good spot nowadays as there are so many houses around the main cities. You would be hard pressed to find an area big enough for your harvies and shop that isn't too far away to take advantage of foot traffic.

Idea two is interesting. I also being a bloodfin guy am aware of the two shops going up like this. Archon seems to be good, but they already have AS's there and the pizza guy I don't think will get much business because of his idea for the "black ball" list. More generally, if you can get in with a well designed and supported shop, go for it as long as you don't have to compete with a very well known AS in the same shop.

Idea three is no good. Don't pay the tax. I think you are right that a guild is very helpful. I would think that you should try to find a guild by at least a semi-popular POI. Many middle-sized guilds have an okay mall set up that already brings in some business that will be added to by your business. Advertize for a guild and check out their vendors and locations.

Well, I guess you were right LeviticusD, No one wants to talk strategy with us like it all is a big secret.

Things are starting to fall together for me now. I decided to hold off on Idea on for now, Big pain to move two houses full of stuff and 4 full factories and a full Storage vendor. LOL

Idea 2 - Yes, it was Archon and I may put a Vendor out there for extra sales if he ever contacts me in game like he said he would lol... The pizza guy strikes me immediatly as one of those "SOE needs to pricecap everything" people from the main forum so that wasn't even a consideration.

Now when I got home lastnight things kind of fell into place a former guildmate who also supplies me with creature resources in exchange for grind armor... Contacted me to give him Zoning rights so he could place a guildhall to start a guild So far him, me and a couple other people who supply me creature resources and the guy that rents me six lots for my harvesters... Definately a good start to a guild for me business wise... on top of that he informs me that he had offered me vendor spots in his fairly trafficed mall on Naboo a while back an I must have just missed it in my email... I already have a customer list of 350+ people wearing my armor so it is not like I'm bringing nothing to his mall.

No, Moving, Better tax free vendor placement, most of my business contacts in one spot... I love it when everything just falls together... Oh yeah did I mention that another former Guildmate is going to get me the parts I need to RIS certify in exchange for a deal on the price of a set of 8k Energy recon with +300 health that she can use for Jedi hunting?

Glad things worked out for ya and good luck with your new set-up. I'm goind to try something new with the Archon thing. I am way busy with school (last semester...sooo close!) and work that I spend a lot of time doing just standing around answering questions from guildies (I'm the guild's troll! ). Lately, I've been parking my toon outside busy area's with a crafting droid and just make custom orders on the spot. This way I can leave my game on and do my studying and stopping to craft some armor when I get a tell. It works out nice.

Anyways, I contacted the Archon guys and they gave me permission to do that at their mall. I'll try it out and seehow busy I'll be with the foot traffic that place will generate.

I seen his post about having a custom armor crafter on site on the trade forum and reminded him he still never sent me set up info. If things go as planned out there even with Three smiths there will probably be no keeping up.

Something I should mention as a tip to AS who are reading this thread making a few contact can be helpful especially with people with scouting profession you will find some will be willing to trade harvesting you hides for keeping them in armor which helps alot.
