Hi all,

I see so many posts on how to grind a profession to master quicker than blinking your eyes. I can't really understand that way of thinking. The point is that you play the game, not to let a macro play the game for you or to sit hours on end doing the same action over and over untill you hit master.

I have been playing for about six months now and "playing" my way up to master AS. That's right, I am still not a master after six months (a couple fo weeks more to go). But I don't care because I am enjoying myself. The added benefit is that I know how to make armor, I know the strength and weaknesses of every type. I have had questions asked by other master armorsmiths who didn't even know the basics because they grinded.

For the people who enjoy playing the game their are a couple of tips to maximise the xp you get while working on armorsmith. Making your xp gain efficient is not grinding, it is just common sense. You're not only getting xp from crafting armor but also from using armor. Although this is in the FAQ I bet most people don't even know about this one.

As a novice you can only make mabari and AUK's but that is more than enough. I recommend you don't become a full crafter with no combat skills untill you hit master. I picked up pistols even up to a couple of boxes of novice pistoleer. Any combat profession is good as long as you can take some damage. "taking damage" you say? Well that's right. Whenever you or somebody in a radius of a couple kilometers is taking damage while wearing your armor you get xp. Approximately up tothe same ammount you did get from crafting the armor. This happens mostly in the first 100 points of conditions the armor loses. After that the gain is almost zero.

Make a set of mabari. It is up to your choice if you want to make it light or protective. Then wear it yourself and go do some missions or play with your friends and guildmates (and give them some of your armor too, you will get xp for it). Hunt some hides you might need. As long as you and/oryourfriendsdo some combat and soak some damage. The point is: have fun while you get xp.

Once you don't get any xp anymore just sell the armor on the bazaar. The condition has gone down only a bit so the value hasn't dropped much. If you price your armor reasonably it will sell. I sold countless mabari, chitin and even tantel armors.

If you got a smuggler in your group of friends he/she might be able to slice armor. That's where the AUK's come in. You get 60 xp for making an AUK. Sounds ok, it's 2 xp per unit of resources, as usual. Let the smuggler use your AUK's while he slicing your armor (or anybody elses as long as you're close to him while he/she is slicing). And surprise: you get a whopping 90 xp when the AUK is used. That is a total of 150xp you got for30 units. Not bad.

Once you get enough xp to get you first box don't go for the chitin but go for the experimentation tree. You will be able to make better mabari and get less criticals on experimentation and assembly which saves a lot of resources. Better armor sells better anyway (logical no?). I would go up to experimentation 3 before you go for chitin. Once you hit ubese go for experimentation 4 and the first box of layers.

I would take the PSG's next. Don't start out with them because you get no xp when they get damaged during combat.

That's about it. This way you will get maximum xp for the resources used and you will have a lot fun while "playing" (not grinding)the game. I hope people see that the path to master is at least as much fun as being a master. This game is only a grind if you make it one.

I think Yoda sums it up right:

"always looking to the future this one is. Never his mind on where he is, what he is doing."

Have Fun,

Ohh my god, you mean this is a role playing game?? i thought it was a way to mass credits to sell on ebay. /sarcassumOff

ive been an armorer for a long long time, second or third master on naboo..i think there wasabout 8 of us in thewhole galaxie back then, on radiant that is.i would give away armor to freinds inexchange for hide and they inturn would take my armor and go kill stuff, at times right out side my house. There is nothing better than having 10-20 people wearing your armor killing stuff and your not even crafting and your XP is ticking faster than you can count : )

Sure it takes longer than grinding,, took me about a month to make master. I sold everything i made. I did however grind off my last 3 boxes of layers cause i just wanted to get it over with. You also get the added bonus of acually knowing what the heck you are doing when you get to master,, instead of being a mental novice at master.. hehe that sounds funny, but its true /grin
