people say armor needs to be revamped. i actually dont think there is anything too wrong with armor and its uses and abilities. whats simply wrong is its appearance. everyone looks the same when they wear it. so heres my solution. u need species specifc armor. i dont suggest that smiths have to make a different piece of armor for ever species. what they should is make a molding of armor that they sell to people. then those that buy the armor take it to an armor station (stations can be craftable or simply placed in cities) and type in what their species is and the station would then produce a species-specific piece of armor that looks unique. this would still give everyone some form of identity when wearing armor and would solve the armor "problem" as i currently see it. im such a genius.
p.s. to those of u who think armor and its stats and attributes need a revamp my idea could sill apply.

Better yet, add in more armors like the Kash and Ith armor that is crafted specifically for a certain race.

Interesting idea there, and certainly has its merits, but it doesn't really address the simple fact that of approximately 14 different kinds of armour available to a master (including RIS, but not including BH/Mando and PSG's) only 4 are requested with any kind of regularity for actual use. In actuality there's only really 2 types commonly requested (Ubese and Comp), but I'm including the racial-specific "Composite Analogues" here (i.e. Kashyyykian Hunting, and Ithorian Sentinel) as well. The reason behind this being that, with the exception of those 4 types, most armour types just pale in comparison.
For example, if I'm going out to kill generic creatures to harvest X resource I generally want kinetic protection. Now, I have several options here:
1. I could get a suit of padded, which looks good (except for the helmet
), but doesn't really cut it when you look at around 70% odd kinetic resist and rather high HAM costs for the priviledge - add in the huge investment of organic resources and this don't look so good any more.
2. I could get a suit of Chitin - WHY??? barely hits 60% odd, so don't bother if you're not a defence stacker.
3. there's alwyas Kinetic Composite: 80% kinetic - good thing, comparatively high HAM costs (but still better bang for buck than Padded)
4. Ubese, now we're talking: 76%+ and pretty much wearable unbuffed, plus it's cheap-ish to make so it won't break the bank to buy multiple sets.
5. After looking at the above options, why on earth would anyone go for: Bone, Mabari, Ceremonial, Black-Mountain, Guardian, the-other-Ithorian-type-I-can't-remember, RIS (ok, I can get good kinetic - but the special loot-components make this a difficult option), and Tantel? (some racial differences apply on selection here, but that's beside the point)
And let's not even get IN to PvP armour - can we say "Nothin' but Comp..."
So, the main problem with armour here isn't that we don't have variety - we do, and it's always a pleasure to see that rare individual walking around in Chitin or Padded and actually using it in real combat. The issue is that the variety we DO have is effectively rendered useless by the fact that most suits of armour just don't have a place to shine when compared to: Ubese, Composite, Hunting and Sentinel.
In closing, let me be clear: I am NOT flaming you or saying your idea sucks - I happen to think it has some nice mertis to it in the form of a cosmetic "face-lift" for the rather dull and uniform composite-wearing mass
. Where it falls down is that it doesn't provide a reason for us to craft the "lower tier" armours, which essentially leaves us with little option but to craft the same four suits with different coats of paint.

i agree with u talyn. i wasnt really trying to propose an idea on the revamp on the numbers aspect of the armor, just the cosmetic aspect.

You can craft mando and RIS but you need the patience of Job to do it. I'd like to see more common loot drops so these can be made and seen more frequently. Mando especially. Just cert it for BH's so it doesn't become the "new comp".
