Thread: Ithorian vs. Wookiee: Which racial armor crafting system is the way to go?

I like the idea of Racial Armors but I will readily admit to not crafting any of the Wookiee armors when they went live for one reason only; my storage was already overfull with resources needed for armors without adding even more new required resources.
Now, with Ithorian armors going live I'm of two minds about Racial Armor crafting. I will be able to craft all three Ithorian armors simply because they match existing armors to the letter (Chitin, Padded and Composite) and I'm well supplied for those armors.
The purist in me believes that Racial Armors should be different in all aspects such as is Wookiee armor, but the realist in me understands that with storage and resource acquiremnt the way it is the Ithorian armor is the way to go. I believe that the armor crafting system needs to be either/or, as in Either Wookiee armor needs to correspond to an existing armor type or Ithorian armor needs to be just as unique in requirements as is the Wookiee armor, I just don't know which it should be.

I didn't make any wook armor cause of the crazy requirements, and I wouldn't make and Ithorian armor if it was different either. Not worth the agrivation for me.

I am a fan of both actually. I think the resources should be different for wookie armor simply beacuse they dont wear normal armor. ithorians, on the other hand, should have the same resources, because they are wearing composite-like armor, chitin-like, etc. the armor that they have is the same type as the normal armors, it just looks different because it was made for ithorians and fitted to their bodies. I think that this system works fairly well, however, I would have much rather seen the armor called Ithorian Defender Composite armor or something like that in order to illustrate that they are the same armors.
BTW, I hate wookie armor myself. I dont make it, except when friends bring me resources for it.

I believe that the Ithorian armor should have been like the Wookie armor. If you look at why the Wookie armor requires so many exptic resources, it is because they are a nature oriented species(i.e. Kashyyyk). In the Extended Universe, the Ithorians are the same way(i.e. the Life Groves of Ithor). The ithorians also believe in preserving and living with nature. Why not have exotics for their armor too?

I would much prefer that all races have individual armours, with different requirements, that way, it would force people to specialize, and not have one or 2 crafters own the whole armour trade on a server

I wish wookiees never got armor. They smell funny and they always send me tells with names I can spell, this is very bad when one is in tell hell

The Ithorian seems like a good way to go. Many people complained about the resources for wookiee armor, and due to the few Ithorians on all the servers, currently 0, most AS just can't justify making armor for them. So really the only way Ithorians are going to get armor is if AS already have everything they need for them.

Ithorian armor requires the exact same resources as normal armor.
Composite=Defender
Padded=Sentinel
Chitin=Guardian
they even require the segments from said "regular" armor.
if your a composite specialist, then there is no distinction between Ithorian Defender armor and Composite.
finally something new we do not have to run around the galaxy and harvest for.
