Hi
No certifacetes for using armor or weapons please, what armor to use should be a tactical choice not a class choice, if I want to use armor with high protection as a teras kasi it will effect my speed and ability to dish out damage, but I will be able to take more damage, ie beeing a better "tank" then, or use less bulky armor to be able to do more damage.
Like (old, pre aos) UO where yes you could wear a plate armor as a mage but your mana regeneration would really suck, therefor noone never really used that as a mage, but you could if you wanted too.
I dont like this class(ification) path that SWG is taking with the Combat Upgrade.
Maybe I am alone? (I dont want to play EQ2 or WoW in space)

Regarding weapons - at least allow people to wield them for the purpose of showing them off. Make people unable to attack with them if you have to. Kinda sucks that a weaponsmith can't even show off his creations without grinding out some combat profession first... and then only be able to wield the weapons he is certified for. Not realistic at all. I have wielded two-handed swords without trouble in real life, yet I don't even qualify for novice brawler!
Regarding armor - it looks a bit like we're now faced with something like EQ2, WOW etc. Reconnaisance armor=Leather, Battle Armor=Chain, Assault=Plate. No, I know it's not that simple a comparison, but it gets the point across. Problem with this is that some people like to wear armor as a fashion statement (that's why padded still sells these days). Under the new CU system, it looks like you have to be a certain couple of professions if you want to wear regular stormtrooper armor and another couple of professions if you want to wear scout trooper armor. You now may have to make a tough choice. Do you pick your profession according to the looks of the armor you would like to wear, or do you pick your profession according to what you would like to play and end up being forced to look at some armor you don't really want to wear? Even worse, once you've picked your elite combat profession, it appears that you're stuck with only a handful of armor choices... or 1 if you're a wookiee. Let's see, shall I wear my chitin, composite or rebel assault armor today? Hmmm... or grind out some other elite combat profession in order to be able to wear my beloved set of padded?
All in all, I feel that the freedom I've enjoyed in SWG just took a nosedive when it doesn't really have to be like that.

It's that very "freedom" that necessitated a CURB in the first place...
People had the "freedom" to solo high end content and succeed.
People had the "freedom" to camp spawns indefinitely.
etc.
Seriously, we have had too much "freedom"; it's time to balance this bugger out.
