Seems they are turning chess into a game of rock paper scissors.
I was saving resources to make an armorsmith someday but if they dumb down the crafting and make stuff like hide worthless then I'll find something more challenging to do. I would view armorsmith the same wayI do architect, why waste the points when you could just pay somneone to make the thing for you and they are all the same.

I love the changes coming our way!!!!
Pros:
- all armors are totally wearable, no more composite clones
- 6 new sets of factional armor to craft (54 totally new peices of armor, more if they give us belts)
- tantal is now full suit (another 6 new schematics, less if the arm peices are like mabari)
- marauder now craftable (even more new schematics)
- my RIS can be made PvPable
- BH armor and Mandolorian wearable with nice stats (yea yea still need confirmation)
- psgs might actually be usable even if not in an ADK
- everyone will be beating down my door to buy stuff
- it looks like all enhancers will be usefull, no more throwing away brackaset plates
Cons:
- hard to keep stock (am starting an armorsmith union)
- customers won't be so knowledgable
- some of my stashed resources may become obsolete
- looks like more hand crafting
I think that the armorsmith profession will come front and center with the CURB and I couldnt be happier. Now, if I can figure out combat, I will be set

A lot of segment-specific resources will become obsolete.
I don't like the armour-type segment core thing. I would be happy with segments period.

And there is no love for Wookiees or Ithorians.
yea there is, the wook armor can have the same stats as other armors. If I have the core, I just have to slap on a wookiee appearance on it, so wook armor production won't swallow 3-4 of my factories for a week or two

grrrrrr... I don't want each armour type to be a generic clone of that class of armour.
That was something they at least got partially right with armour before, strengths and weaknesses.
Wookiee Hunting Armour =\= Composite =\= All types of Assualt Armour. It is boring and feels like a cop-out to me.

yea but before with strengths and weaknesses, no one wanted the weaknesses and everyone wore composite (or kash hunting)
it will be fun to see wookiees in black mountain and ceremonial

There was some mention that the actual 'skin' of the armor would affect stats. Some how. We'll have to wait till they unlock the elite professions though before any actual testing can be done.

I think I'm going to like it as well and have a few to add:
Pros:
Unknown:
Pros:
- stats for organic resources won't matter anymore which will make them easier to obtain. not to mention cheaper (assuming organics only used in skins, and that skins won't affect stats)
- specify colors on BH armor and Mandalorian
Unknown:
- With only 2 lines to experiment in layers/segments there will be less differences in armor, which is good for starting smiths and not so good for veterans. This might also make 12-point suits less useful (more like the way a 12-point suit works for a weaponsmith).

Is there any evidence of this?

No evidence.
It's still unknown whether skins will have any affect on the armor stats or not, that's why I said "assuming skins won't affect stats". We don't even know the resources for layers and segments yet, which is also why I said "assuming organics only used in skins".

"all armors are totally wearable, no more composite clones "
All armors won't be totally wearable. After the CURB people will have fewer armor choices than ever.
Padded could be tweaked (with minor adjustments) to be a "light composite".
Chitin already works well as a "light Ubese". The only thing that needs changed with these armors, is the HAM relative to one another, and the creature structural that is required, relative to one another.
People don't stock high quality Padded because it is too expensive to do so. Not when for each suit of Padded I craft, I could easily have made 3 suits of Composite and 2 suits of Ubese.
The only reason you see Composite clones running around is because of the HAM and price of other armors. In a way, they have made Composite too cheap and to easy to make.
After the Curb, a neutral swordsman will be limited to Padded or Bone armor. Oh joy. Such diversity.
Keep the current system, just balance the HAM and resources required relative to the protection each type provides.
If these issues can't be accomplished with the current 2 year old system, what makes me think armor will be balanced after the CURB. The uber rich powergamer will always find a way to maximize himself, no matter the system.
What has been complianed about for 2 years now will still exist, just with different specs. The CURB does nothing to close the gap between the powergamer and the casual gamer.
