I'm sure yall get tired of these so let me extend my appologies for any aggrivation this may cause. I only brought this here because i have a pretty big concern regarding my mian class of Ranger after these changes go live. At this time we are currently certed for Battle armor(not the most logical choice for us, but hey whatever). My concern comes from a post Blix made about negation of different armor types due to different certifications. So, say I am a Master Ranger (battle armor cert) plus Master Rifleman (recon armor cert), from my understanding from Blix's post is that as soon asI pick up a rifle any bonuses and protection given to me from the battle armor is completely negated. Is this how yall understand it? Thts how i took it and i could be completely off. If this is the case then this causes major problems for rangers unless we pick up a combat class that is certed for battle armor or assault armor. Thanks for any insight yall bight be able to offer.

Thanks for the responses. If my assuption is right, and from the responses I've gotten here then the cert Rangers got is completely pointless. I brought this concern here first, because we have a ton of other things going on that is being discussed. Ya know bring it to the pros first instead of there causing possibly more panic. As of right now we are getting totally screwed by the CU. We are the only combat oriented class that hasnt even been looked at which keeps us from getting the health bonus. Our skill point costs remain the same. While everyone elses got reduced. So there is alot of stuff going on over there.
Again thanks for the input and sorry about the whine I'm just frustrated as hell.

I've been asking this all week trying to figure out if as a Swordsman it would be worth it to pick up Commando, BH, or SL to get the Assault cert that would let me wear my comp with all my mods in it, or if youneed to have a coresponding weapon equiped for the mitigation for that armor to be in effect. If so this would be horrible because first it would force people to pick up professions they didn't want just so they could wear their old armors, and you would have to switch entire sets of armor every time you switched weapons which would slow down combat dramaticly.
It is very hard to tell from Blix's response though because he used Command/TKA as an example which is a special case because TKA doesn't have an armor cert, just natural defenses. For everyone's sake I hope that once you get an armor certification it is universaly useable with any other weapon you pick up.

I can't see that as being the case. Bounty Hunters are certed in Assult Armor, and gain specials for Pistols which gets certed for Recon armor, and Carbines, which is certed for Battle armor. If the armor that you were wearing was dependent upon the weapon you were holding, then BH's would not be able to even wear armor under this system.
I think what Blix was getting at is that a TK cant pick up another class like Commando, wear armor granted from Commando, and still get all the TK defense bonuses.

Blix picked the WORST example he ever could have. For one, TK dont use weapons and they dont have Armor. he should have used any other Profession combination other than TK/Commando. that was just dumb

Ummm... TKAs do use weapons... VKs. Anyway, I don't see how it was a dumb statement, it seemed valid to me.

This is from the list of changes Blair listed for the CU
Profession abilities always stack together in an additive and meaningful manner (either through increased power for each Profession ability or through added versatility)
annnd
Most profession abilities are no longer weapon specific. Now, different special abilities can be used with different weapons. (Though some abilities are still limited to specific weapons or weapon groups.)
Sounds to me like abilities stack more now then ever before but we shall see...oh yes we shall see...
