Crafters

  • Camouflage Kits are now usable by non-Rangers. Any player may now self-apply a camouflage kit to gain a small conceal buff. This buff is less effective than if a Ranger had applied the camouflage, but it should aid crafters in avoiding the unwanted attention of critters near their installations. Also, camouflage kits are now usable from the button bar

  • Crafting weapons will now grant the appropriate General or Weapon Crafting XP

  • Recyclers will now be craftable again

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So my crafting friends, we rangers can now supply you with camoflauge kits. Infact, why not hire a ranger to join your company? Now that there are multi-passenger vehicles, if you need to survey on a dangerous planet, take a ranger along with you. So that if you camo breaks, he(ranger) is there to re-apply it. and if you find a concentrated area of resources, then we can clear out the area of nasty critters so you can plant your harvesters!

However i am trying to make best with the situation we are being handed, i am un-happy that even more of our skills are being "handed" out to everyone, but you know the old saying, when life hands you lemons, you just have to make lemonade.
I encourage you to visit the ranger forums, and get the entire scope of how our community feels about this new change. click

True, I wonder how effective the camo is if we apply it ourselves tho. I'll be contacting my Ranger for camo kits tho

You'll look really professional when your client has to use 4 camo kits to get from the outpost to the village and back. I know I'm not planning on sitting around waiting for 2 or 3 crafters a day to come by wanting a camo kit.

As it is, I am puzzled by the lack of enthusiasm in the ranger forums. If this is implimented properly, i.e ranger applied buffs significantly more powerful and longer lasting than self applied ones then it will be very beneficial to dedicated crafters.

I forsee 2 uses:

For regular planets with short runs: Crafters see mobs around their harvesters, applies buffs and does his business.

Ranger applied buffs. Contact ranger through PM or sees in starport and both go to dangerous planet like Dathomir where ranger applies camo. More expensive but longer lasting and effective but it beats dying to creatures. It doesn't do anything against NPCs and that is why I had asked for level increases for crafters but this is better than nothing. PSGs may mitigate the damage too and you can always lead away the melee type of NPCs except the ones that do force damge (NS and such).

My only suggestion there is not to drop harvesters in their area.

I'm sorry to break in here as well.. Consider the following:

Another reason to craft them beside the options we already had:

- Applying them to ourselves

- Applying them to other...

We now can sell them?

With NO vendors and only bazaar at our disposal?

Let me see here... Tatooine, Lok, Naboo, Rori, Corellia, Dantomir, Endor, Dathomir, Yavin, Kashyyyk.

That's about 10 planets. Woopy. With a 25 item vendor limit, it would mean we can sell about TWO friggin camo kits PER planet on EACH planet.

Don't expect ME to be RESTOCKING on a daily basis.

Alternative: sit down at every starport and spamming to sell kits? No way. I'm a RANGER not a merchant.

Yes, some rangers already DO sell kits, traps and other sorts of things because they made an agreement with a Merchant/Artisan to sell those items for them. Good for them, for them there is an additional market now. For those who used the kits in RP-ing and helping out guildies, fellow citizen or just in general because they could, this change is a slap in the face.

Instead of looking at the ONLY usefullness we COULD have in a GROUP (after all the CU has become all but CL and grouping) it is going to be taken AWAY!!!!

yes, but the problem, is that even for a master ranger, camo is notorious for breaking. Maskscent works much better, and it is more effecient than a crafted camo pack.

For a crafter to get the full benefit of a ranger, he would need a ranger riding shot gun, re-applying camo everytime it breaks...and believe me, it breaks quite often. and most NPC's are not affected by the camo aswell.

How about rangers quit charging 200 cpu for good hide?

*grumpy today*

<--Armorsmith by day, Ranger by night

On Eclipse,200 cpu isn't unheard of pre-CU, but it's stupidly high (and is almost exclusively a wooly hide or avian meat price). Not that I never accepted contracts at 150 or 175 cpu, or stopped my auctions before they got there, but it was still insanely high. 25-50 cpu was about right for quality hide depending on how fast you could get it (ie, Dathomir leathery vs. Tatooine scaley), with wooly going for up to 75 cpu.

With the new bulk harvesting and heightened requirements in the CU, though, we need to adjust our prices. More's needed, we get more per harvest, so 10-25 cpu for everything is reasonable to me, maybe a little higher if it's really difficult to get (ie, if I have to solo) *and* it's really good.

Before the CU, I actually had fallen into a good deal with this one AS I'd worked with:20 cpu for anything. It meant overpaying on a little, but underpaying on a lot, but mostly it meant it meant he and I had a good working relationship. He'd always have hide and I'd always have work.

Then the CU hit before I could finish the first contract and he quit and I turned Armorsmith myself.

Side note: There's not many Rangers left, and those of us that are are routinely outharvested by combat-stacked Novice Scouts. Grumble at them now. :>

I'm not paying 200 cpu. I've told every ranger to go find another AS. But there seems to be a significant number of them on the server wanting 200 cpu for good hide.

My point is, people complain about high armor prices but turn around and try to sell us the resources at ridiculous costs.

I would have to say that anyone selling wooly for 200cpu is a money grubber. Not a Ranger. We dont need much since we are fairly self sufficient. I sold 100k of wooly for 50cpu and walked away with 5 million. That lasted me for quite some time.

Rangers hunt and harvest cause we enjoy it. Making money on the side is a perk. If anyone ever said they were going Ranger to get rich quick they were crazy. If the good stuffs not in spawn you dont get paid. Simple as that.

LOL 200CPU?
You're kidding, you have to be?!?!?

I've been hesitant to pay 30CPU for hides. I just use my Bounty Hunter/Rifleman alt and go kill them. As a novice scout, even solo I can get about 20K pf hide hour just killing random spawns. If I find a group, it's more like 200K an hour.
