I have asked the other combat medics this same question, now gonna ask the people who make the stuff.
I am a Zabrak combat medic with 900 all 3 ham bars and very high willpower. I have not used any armor to date, but see the need to do so very soon. The reason I have not worn armor is my dislike for the attribute penalties.
I was wondering what kind of armor you all suggest I wear, which positions you wear it in and when you wear it (PvP, PvE, all the time, take it off when healing only, etc)
Thanks for your time

Probably stick with a combo of well made Taniel, flushed out with Chitin. Anything higher and you will be taking a big hit in the HAM bars. Might also be able to just wear Mabari, if you've got a good group you hunt with, and don't end up on the recieving end of damage very often, because while the HAM cost is lower, so is the protection.
Don't wear it when you're making your meds, and only wear your helmet when you're in a situation where you might recieve a headshot.

I tend to take bigger hits to action, and my action is lower that health, so I just wear Mabari leggings all the time (since that's where you take action hits). Not big stat penalties, but covers a lot of different types of damage (remember, even a 1% effectiveness against a certain damage type still gives you protection - it negates a 25% bonus the attacker would other wise get, then adds an extra 1%).
Also, however, I have 27%-energy bone breastplate hotkeyed for blaster fights, and a high kinetic-energy Chitin breastplate hotkeyed for melee fights.
Food is good for when you don armor, as it can often negate the penalties to your stats. Also, if you're drowning in cash, PSG's have no encumberance.
Throw on your armor when you go into battle. That's what its for. It's not clothing (IMHO).
I think it works as inteded. Police officers don't wear BP vests all the time. They wear them when on duty.
Just a few thoughts from a novice armorsmith. You'll probably get some disagreements here.

I've been using 70%Kin 16%base ubese for most of my armor needs. The 70kin has been great for hunting and the 16 base has been sufficiant enough for combat. However my mission level increased and the 16base isnt enough.
I need somthing with an effective base 30-40%
I know composite is better , but I'm looking for somthing I can wear with out having to get buffed. What would you suggest?

Pretty much everything after Ubese is going to be heavy.
I would go with a light 80% kinetic comp suit. The base would be around 60%. You'll still want to get it sliced for encumbrance. HAM would be in the 450-600 range on each(before slice), depending on how well it's made.
