Thread: Mixing Armor Types advisable?

I am Novice in a number of professions which enables me to wear Recon and Assault Armor. Is it advisable / not advisable to mix armor types? I.e. wear a chitin helmet (assault) and ubese chest (recon)? Or at least mix within one class, i.e. Tantel helmet, Ubese chest and Mabari leggings (all recon)? What are the advantages or disadvantages?

As far as mixing within the same class, I do it to get a better look. For instance I like the maruarder chestplate, boots, arms, gloves and helmet but they look so much better with some padded leggings rather than the maruarder ones.

As far as mixing between classes...I'm not actually sure what effect that'd have. I have a feeling that the results would be bad but it's just a hunch. I'm sure someone arround here could help you on that...

The resists depend on where you get hit and attacks do hit certain pieces (Legs the most, then Helmet, chest, then arms with the left bracer for some odd reason getting off the easiest). So mixing and matching isn't all that bad. You just have to worry about say, wearing an assault leggings and getting hit in the legs will cause more damage than if it would hit your recon helm.

I have one suit (mostly to bug my style concerned guildleader) that isa multi-colored combination of all the armors!

Sounds like my old comp suit, from before the CU. Back when people could change the color whenever they wanted I had a full comp suit, with every piece a different color.

Now I wear a Red White and Blue Tantel suit (with my armorsmith /smuggler) that I use mabari on the pants and boots. It's an interesting effect.

As far as mixing from different types while in combat, I'd be carefull with that. I'd say it's ok, if you keep the helm, chestplate & leggings all to at least the same type (if not skin) and match those three pieces to what would be best for your combat style. The arm pieces I wouldn't worry about as much, seeing as they don't get hit near as often.

Not a big rpoblem if you use balanced suite there the kinetic and energy are clsoe to each other any way, i noticed that balanced suties was pretty decent even if it is rnaged npc you fight, because alot of them seem to do kinetic damage so it isnt only energy. loved my bone and chitin mixed armour with stats around 6k agaisnt all.

Fein out

Don't forget hindrances when you mix armor classes! If you only have the novice level certifications, you're going to get hit with the highest hindrance value among the pieces you have on. For example, if you wear a chitin chest plate with ubese helmet with only the mitigation you get at novice, you're going to be looking at a 30 percent movement penalty from the assault AND a 30 percent rate of fire reduction from the recon. You get the worst of each type.

But mixing armor within a class is no problem. If the pieces are of the same quality, they'll have the same hindrances. Remember, hindrances don't stack. You are just affected by the piece of armor that has the highest hindrance value.

Ya make sure they have equal hinderances and you should have no problems it actually breaks it up a bit and makes you look different than others; an individual you could say

That thing with the hindrances is good advice. I ll head that.

I hope to find my own set of armour, one that suits my style. Too bad most AS sell complete suits only. Well, thats good usually, but in this case...

Don't feel bad about sending an AS an email. Quite honestly, if all you are after is an unlayered capped suit, it's not that much trouble to get an AS to take the time and craft a suit for you. Some won't but many will. Just send an email and if they respond great! If not, find one that will.

I'mmade the mistake just this once of getting an Assault piece energy layerd.

But my Mabari pants, Ubese bracers, Tantel chest, Chitin boots, Composite helmet suit is the coolest thing on Starsider.
