I don't know where else to post this but in the Armorsmith forum. I know this is an issue in live and might hav been fixed in the CU, but if it has not it is still pertinant.

When a piece or armor starts degrading with its resistances falling it does not grant the appropriate protection for the new level of resistances. I have been keeping a close eye on this to make sure I was not crazy. My armor starts out at 80% special resist energy. In a full energy fight my armor condition drops low enough that thmy resists start dropping. All of a sudden I am taking far greater damage. Yes I should be taking more damage since the resists start dropping, but not the amount that I have been taking. It seems that when the resists begin dropping that they only protect again somewhere around 60% - 75% of the new value that they are supposed to be protecting against.

If this is supposed to occur, please let me know. Perhaps there is some hidden modifier wher eif the armor condition causes the resists to drop, the special protection no longer works properly, but I have never heard of this. Could someone please help me out? And if this is a new issue no one has brought up before, could your correspondant please confirm this and/or submit this very large bug?

if your armor is losing resists because of condition, a ton of hits get through even if it is listed as 65% kinetic or whatever, always been like this to my knowledge. repair the armor, or get some more

Sorry, just got to this now. Once armor falls below 50% condition, the resistances begin to drop (this also happens on NPC's, especially ones with high HAMs like NS elders and Krayt Dragons ). A simple repair will fix the problem.

I've never actually had something like this happen. Other things to ask might be:

-were you using a full suit or a 4-piece?
-if 4 piece, were you wearing a skirt with it? This tends to open the armor hole back up

So what you are saying is that when the resists start dropping, not only do the resists drop but hits bypass the armor completely because of the damage?

If that is the case, then it is good to know but it would still seem like a bug to me. I would think that an armor should protect against whatever it says it protects against and not be bypassable.

Thanks to both of you for responding, I hope I have made my concern clear and that I understood what you were saying correctly.

here is what I can say from personal experience, I have done this with a full suit and also with 4 peice suit

once armor starts losing its resists, it hits a point where you just start getting trashed. I havent bothered to open the combat log and see if it is bypassing armor or what. The armor will still show 50-60% kinetic resists, but there is no way it is blocking that much.

and yes, a repair fixes it

I would recreate any test scenario and test it on TC-Ep3if you provide solid test data for the bug on live.

The test setup to get solid data can be a duel to make things easy.

Please describe the setup parameters as good as possible: like weapon and armorused; race, combat template of combatants, etc.

Peform a set of identicalattacks (minimum of 100) for the regular situation and anotherrow of attacksshowing the buggy effect.

Record all combat chat spam in the logfile (/log).

Analyze the data and present your bug in short form or better copy paste the logfile explaining where and when you saw evidence for this bug.

I know about repairing armor and increasing the resists. I have done this many times with many suits of armor. The bug lies in that the armor is not resisting properly when damaged.

Take this situation: I have 80% special resist Kinetic. I am in a battle and it is dropping 80% of the damage.

Next battle I start it still has high enough condition. In the middle of the battle the resists start dropping, however this piece has a lot of max condition so the resist drop slowly. The Kinetic resist is down to about 75%.

This is where the bug that Im asking about lies. The armor should be shunting 75% of the damage, and with each ensuing hit start dropping less and less damage but slowly. However, from my observations this does not happen. When it should be resisting 75% of the damage (this being the damaged armors resistances) it is only resisting 55% of the damage. I have seen this happen with many of my pieces of armor. In the middle of a battle the piece starts loosing resist (as it should) and I start taking more damage (as I should) however I end up taking far more damage than I should be taking until I repair the piece. I do not take the 25% damage that the damage armor lets through, I take more than that. It is as though the damaged piece of armor protects for less than it actually displays (even after updating the resists to show its damaged level).

I know about repairing armor, and repair armor after a battle where the resists start dropping. However this does not seem right to me, the armor seems to lose more resistance than it should and does not display the resistance properly.

1. I have never worn a four piece suit before, always full suit.
2. I never let a piece of armor get down to to 50% on the resists. When my resists drop from 80% the most they get down to before I repair them is abou 70%.
3. I can take a beating in my 80% and keep going for quite a while, the instant that my resist drops below 80% I start getting trashed.
4. I would be happy to do a test and collect data since this apprears to me to be a very large bug. Trouble is I have never done testing of this kind in game so Im not sure how good at it I would be. I will try to relate this to another guildie who might know how to set it up properly and we'll perform it together. I have some vague ideas of how to conduct an experiment, but Im not sure I could get it quite as detailed and intricate as I have seen other people's experiments on the boards.

If anyone else has seen this happen it would be good if you could run an experiment as well, but I will do my best and when I get the results I'll post them in this forum.

Wouldn't you say that's a glitch?
