If any well-informed AS out there has a moment, please point me in the direction of any thread(s) you may know of that explain exactly how armour works now after the CU changes have gone in.
I used to be a MAS for about 8 months and was intimately familiar with its workings under the old system. I've also been gone from the game for the last six months or so, and am running around a bit lost trying to understand what exactly the numbers mean when I look at my armour now.
Even our guild MAS is a bit unclear, as well as a couple of others I've spoken to. They seem to know that if an armour has [n] rating for kinetic, that it's fairly high and would be preferrable over one with a [y] rating. But no one seems to know what exactly [n] and [y] mean as far as how much damage they soak in combat - nor does the combat tab give the "So-and-so's chest plate absorbed [x] points of damage!" anymore. So I really have no idea what exactly the armour is doing now.
I'm sure there's some in depth thread or another around that explains it well, but for the life of me - in all of my searching for the last half hour - I can't find it.
I thank you in advance for your help, and appreciate any and all enlightenment on the subject.
A well informed customer is, after all, one quite likely to continue to buy. =)

*EDIT*
Disregard. Inevitably after I posted this, the thread I was looking for jumped up and bit me square on the arse.
To all of the AS that are sticking with it through the rather radical changes - kudos.

most of the stickies are really well written. Just know that Quad Layers Armor is maxing (not capping just maxing) out around 7900 right now. The 7900 being the highest Example. Quad Energy would be around 4500/7900/5500.
if you use really uber resources even non-layers stuff comes out 6500'ish.
ready the Math Stickie on Deminishing Returns to get an idea of how the numbers work.

Actually, even after reading all of the stickies, the math post (which talks more about cpu/profits/# of resources to make/factory run times/etc) - it still does little for the consumer I'm afraid.
Do the resistance numbers roughly translate into a percentage? EG: if armor has 6000 kinetic rating, does that roughly equal 60% resistance? (before taking into account the weapon mode that's firing on it of course)

ok yeah I did point you to the wrong stickies.
Great Link for Customers to read

Precisely what I was looking for.
Your help is genuinely appreciated, and now I can go inform guildmates/friends so that there will be that many fewer people bugging the handful of well-informed AS on the basics, and we can get right down to the part I know you guys love.
Business.
Cheers,
