Thread: Repairing Armour
I have heard conflicting statements about this so I thought I would come to the source:
It is my understanding that armour CAN be repaired if you get a good, preferably master, armoursmith to do it and that you want to wait until it's decayed a bit.
Is this correct?
I am asking because I have noticed that my amour is really getting the snot knocked out of it and I need to make plans on whether to pay to have it repaired or stash creds to buy a new set when I'm ready.
As of 11/30/03 I failed to repair 3 pieces of my own personal armor. I am a Master Armorsmith and was using a 96.6 Repair tool.
I refuse to repair armor until we receive a working bonus to repair rate.

Out of how many pieces? 3 out of 3 or 3 out of 5 or 3 out of 10?
A master armorsmith has no better chance of repairing armor than anyone else. Just purchase a good armor repair kit and do it yourself.
Also, don't repair your armor until its between 35-40% of its original condition. I can't count how many times I got tells from people repairing there composite and destroying it. The condition would be like 30k/34k , thats still like brand new almost.

Really? So, as a Master Artisan if I just make a really good repair kit I personally have just as good a chance?
Is this one of those things that everyone is sure about or one of those things like crafting stations that we can't decide if they reduce critical failures or not?
Not trying to be sarcastic or anything just trying to get the skivy.
Im running 3 clothing items of +3 each of armor repair.. and 95.6% kits and I still get 3 or more out of a full set of comp fail on repair..
Even on a minor success or whatever it is.. the stats go backwards (- %'s)and the piece is ruined...
i may be wrong but i do believe that at master artisan you don't anymore artisan experimentation points and that if a armor smith picked up Domestic Arts they could make high quality bone armor and other general things like small extractors
I have +20 to armor repair, I'm a master artisan as well.
I fail all the freaking time!
Drives me bonkers, much like getting 5 critical fails in a row does.
Hope that helps.
I used to have Armor Repair skill. I do not any longer.
I use 99% repair kits, I have tapes and I've made 4000-5000 suits of armor.
I still fail 45% of the time.I wont repair my customers armor either. Tired of them flipping out when I break the same stuff I made them.

Yup, I even buy my repair kits from Master Artisans. You make them better than I could.
I am also positive on this. Just make sure your armor isn't barely damaged or is beyond repair (20% or lower wear).
