I really want to be a master armorsmith, I dont know why, everyone thinks imcrazy for leaving ffxi for swg but I think I made the right decision. My only problem is lately im geting veryfrustrated with the class and im not close to master.Theres always resource fluctuations, and I spend hours on end trying to find the right resources. And sometimes when Ifind AWESOME spots to put harvesters theres no flat land in sight or too many harvesters clustering up the good land. Its very frustrating. The other thing is the GRIND. At first I didnt mind it, But after a while, I cant even bring myself to start crafting anymore.... and Im only 3-0-0-3.On top of that... I cant find iron!! anywhere!! So I cant even ease the boredom by making somethingbetter than those damn upgrade kits. What should I do? BESIDES dropping the class... thats out of the question. Master AS is important to me for some odd reason. Please, Im asking nicely, no negative posts only words of encouragement please. Thanks.

okay, breathe, relax, we all get frustrated from time to time.

Staying on top of resources is hard, especially when a really big spawn hits. I suggest visitng www.swgcraft.com or any other resource website regularly and as soon as a resource is posted, get on it asap before everyone else does.

You also might want to take a break a bit on the grind. I know it's a bit frustrating, but you will get there soon, so don't worry. A friend of mine is going through AS, and he decided to try the fun method of getting xp for armorsmith. You get xp when people use your armor. So he made a ton of suits of mabari armor and started asking everyone in the guild and town to use it, then started giving it to new players. He got a lot of xp for crafting the armor, and now he's getting a steady stream of xp when people use his armor, it's not a lot, but it helps keep him moving forward when grinding just gets too frustrating.

Same thing happen to me on my way to becoming a Master Armorsmith. I found it help to take breaks and go on some hunts with friends. If you get into the right group it can be a lot of fun and it gives you something else to do then just sit there stareing at a Clothing/Armor Crafting station

Also kick back at cantinas and start up some conversations, can be a lot of fun if you like socializing.

if all you do is craft you will just burn yourself out. Also be patient with materials, they will eventually appear.

Also you should take a day or two off from the game and go shoot some hoops or hang out with some friends. Then when you come back to the game refreashed.

If you are new here, welcome

the grind can be long and the gathering of resources tedious

here is my advice.

pick up a combat profession and some scouting skills. I am a rifleman and novice scout. You have enough skill points to master almost any of the elite combat professions AND armorsmith.

So, you are sick of grinding and chasing those hard to get resources. This is a game, go have some fun. I was a master swordsman back and the day and loved it.

Why are you doing this? If you grind hard you can become a master fighter in a few days or a week. Lets say you pick swordsman. A buffed swordsman can solo about anything in the game. As a master swordsman get buffed and go to dathomir. DO enraged rancor missions for 35k a pop. You will get about 2500 leathery hides per lair. In a few hours work you can get 20-40k hides and 200-500k depending on how fast you are (it isn't about how fast you kill it is about having fun).

DO this for a few days and you will have tons of leathery hides for your ubese and wookie armors and a couple of mill in the bank.

change your harvesters scour the trade forums have some more fun.

So now you have been doing this about a week, you have a ton of leathery hides and tons of money from running missions, now go to dantooine after getting buffed. Get in a group to get higher paying missions. Hunt thunes and hurtons all day. You will paid good money because you are master and have higher payouts and you will get some fat stacks of that wooly hide you need. If the hide is crap there do Janta missions for higher payouts.

moral of the story is this

a lot of crafting professions limit themselves to what they can mine and what they can craft for their income. The best way to get a business running is with capital. A master of any of the elite combat classes can easily pull in 200k an hour running missions (300-400k if they know what to do ). Scouting skill can get you the hides you need. You can buy anything with money. You dont have to wait months for something to spawn or deal with crowded harvesters if you have millions in the bank to buy off the trade forums.

you can buy any of the master armorsmith resources from your local trade forums if you have the cash

try that

whoa, dont know what happend there

anyways

he was grinding ubese jackets, so he got me to do the same, and wow does it ever go faster. of course you need a larger variety of resources but if you've got em, then its great. i even took my AUK macro and converted it into a macro i could use to grind them. i got personal shield generators 3 in about an hour.

also, i find it helps if you listen to music while grinding. it helps take your mind off the endless click mouse here, move mouse there, click some more, repeat.

I found the grind to master was fairly swift. I did it on Mabari chestplates all the way up, and my only hangup was that my factories couldn't make the components as fast as I was burning them up.

I must admit that I am a bit frustrated by armorsmith as well. Getting on top of the resources is nuts, and I'm wondering when I am ever going to have everything I need to make a suit of composite.

The upcoming merchant changes is another source of frustration as I now have to squeeze out more SP to sell my wares.

The experimentation tape issue is another source of frustration. How on Earth am I going to get experimentation +20 to keep up with the rest of the server?

All these things have made me consider hanging up my crafting tools and going all combat again.

Veroak one thing you might try is getting to know the planets a bit better. I am not trying to be smart about this but there are places you really shouldn't even think about going if you have a choice. For instance I never go to rori. The reason is I can rarely find the flat land I need to set down my harvesters. Instead I will go to the volcano area near lok should I be given a choice. Endor is pretty good though a bit pricy, but I can usually find a good spawn there and lots of flat land. The same can be said for yavin 4.

Knowing your planets can greatly aid you, and swgcraft.com is your friend. Moniter it, use it, love it and tip those people who took the time to survey those resources because they are making your life ALOT easier.
