I have been told different things. i tried to repair my own armor with a 99 percent repair kit and the armor fell apart! Do armorsmiths have a better chance to repair armor? Does it matter when i repair the armor, should i fix it at 50%, 25*? I couldnt find the answers in the forums. My thanks

Armorsmiths are supposed to. Based on what I've read and my own anecdotal results I would say it does matter. But at least with armorsmithing it seems to me somewhat negligable difference.

Armor stats seem to deteriorate after the armors condition drops below 33 or 30%. I would certainly repair before this, as these stats are not repairable. That said, I wouldn't do it too early simply do to the high chance or it falling apart.
Does between 35% and 40% sound reasonable?

From what I've seen any bonus armorsmiths get for repairing armor is negligable at best. I don't even bother using my M.Armorsmith alt to repair my Combat alts armor anymore.

well as a master armour smith i have come up with this .
armoursmith repair armour better than non armoursmiths ,i have spent the last few days at star ports doing quite a trade in repairs , my best results were in coronet , but for the most part most armour repairs resulted in a reduction of overall condition , but i only had 2 peices out of about 100 repairs fall apart (one of them was my boots :womanmad
i was able to repair a full set of comp that had less than 10% condition left .
i had one smart ass player who bough the kit off me and decided to do his own repairs and promtly destroyed his nice shiney breast plate ,he came to complain and i told him "i told you to let me do it ."
as far i can tell master artsisans are also quite good at repairs too .
but i think its safe to say if you want to get your car fixed you dont take it to a chinese takeaway, take your armour and the kits to an armoursmith or master artisan and save yourself a few hundredthousand credits .
this is probley not all scientificlike your used to ,but i say out with the maths and the formulas ,common sense dictates ,you want your armour sliced you see a smugler ,you want a buff you see a doctor, you need your armor repaired "SEE AN ARMOR SMITH!"

I still believe its completely random... I once had 10 brand new comphelms on me, got incapped and they all got 5% decay. So I decided to repair them all, 3 fell apart completely, 1 got minor blemishes, and the rest repaired but with less durability afterwards.

As a master armorsmith who left it for the search for my elusive fs slot.
I thought it did not matter.
However after dropping armorsmith all the way and doing repairs with the same repair kits I used before my sucess rate went down. I was getting tons of partial repairs, and ruined pieces.
So I do believe now that armorsmiths do a better job. Now novice vs master no idea.

Doesnt matter in my eyes, Prior to mastering AS (hologrinding) I failed often, far TO often for a 99.999% tool.
I seemed to fail about the same rate as a Mstr AS.
Duno, I have two houses of godly weapons/armor that need repair, im just waiting on this crap to get fixed.. sad aint it? good weapons are hard to find=P

The stats certainly are repairable.
A repair will bring them up to the original effectiveness. The only thing that decreases is the condition. The success of the repair will determine how much condition is lost.
I recommend people wear their armor until they're unhappy with the resists. As you say, the resists start to go down at a certain point. Most likely, the repair is going to reduce condition by 10-20%. (Or is it 10-30%?) If you wear it until the condition is really low, you haven't lost much on a failed repair.

Im a Master Artisan and Master Armorsmith and I hardly fail on any armor..except for the occassional Composite with 2k condition left etc..that i stand little chance on..but sometimes even the really low ones I can pull off.. Last time i failed was a 0 condition piece..And i didn't fail so much as sends its stats into
-6000% Effectiveness or some such

i think its safe to say that armour smith are better at repairs ,but i also agree that there will be a randomness (is that even a word) to the whole idea of repairs ,i have to say to each repair cusomer that no matter what condition the armour is there is always a slight chance that it may not work and that the armour will fall apart .
the reason is common sense ,and works in favor of the armour smith ,if your were able to say 100% to every customer your armour will be fine and bcak to normal ,then at some point there would be no point crafting armour anymore .every one would have the set or sets they want and they would know no matter what the armour can be repaired .
again if you take the example of a car , over time with wear and tear and regular tune ups the car will eventualy fail and have to be replaced .
I WILL MAKE ONE LAST VERY IMPORTANT POINT ,
I KNOW FOR A FACT THAT ARMOUR IS DEGRADING FASTER THAN EVER BEFORE ,AND WHEN THE ARMOUR NERF COMES IT WILL ALL MAKE SENSE
