Thread: How do YOU get your hides and other creature resources?

I'm just curious, how many of you have alts for gathering creature resources, or how many hire a ranger, or have guildmates get the necessary supplies? How about the loot drops for armor?

Is it possible to be a successful armorsmith with only one character, namely the armorsmith? Can a helpful guild be good enough to make the extra resources attainable?

I am a smuggler also, which really helps with creature loots - my PA and I take hunting trips to Lok, Tatooine and Dathomir

I am currently working on smuggler, which seems most useful for the faction points to get the faction armor. The downside there is that I have to give up skill points for things like tailor, which seems to be useful for an armorsmith. I guess I should just find a good tailor to buy those components from. Any other opinions? Thanks Saarek!

While I have an alt to help with creature resources, I rely on my guild quite a bit for the hide and such. We have a tailor in the guild that I can use to get schematics, but even before then I was able to find other tailors that didn't even charge to make the schematics.

I have an old Guildie who's a Master Ranger. He's a great and reliable hunter

I have friends help me or I buy it. When revamp hit, I dropped over 60 mil on hides and resources.

Have an alt (or to be correct a main ) with scout but I seem to never have any time over for hide harvesting so I buy most of it, got deals with 2 rangers for 10cpu so np for me.

Since hides seem to be the most expensive resource for us AS's I was hell bent on cutting costs as much as possible especially in this area. I was a MAS / MS with a little merchant, but have decided that being a Smuggler had little purpose other than buying points for Factional Armor, so I dropped all but Underworld IV and picked up scout and the hunting tree. I tag along with friends or whoever else is around and usually offer up a free suit for their time. Three nights ago I grouped up with 3 people and after about 2 hours of hunting walked away with 300k units of Dant Wooly, and all it cost me was 2 suits of armor...not a bad night. Slicing is all but pointless now so I'd rather use my SP for something a bit more useful. Just my 2 cents

Personally I get help from my guild or hire a ranger depending on quantity of hide and the qualityI need.

I hunt for my own with my Ranger alt. While I can effectively get enough solo, I do like to team up with other rangers when possible to make the kills go faster and increase the amount of hide/bone dropped per creature. The two toons I have do seem to compliment each other well... I make my own armor & weapons for my combat character, hunt for my own hide/bone/loot/enhancers for my as/ws character, use those to make more armor & weapons, rinse, and repeat. Having the extra lots for all the factories and harvesters is probably one of the biggest advantages now with the increased factory times and resource requirements. In fact, if it weren't forbattle padding (I still have x2xx in tailor for the FP's and RFP's), I really wouldn't have to rely on anyone else for anything except the occasional slice on my own weapon, but I usually get that taken care of when I make a custom set of armor for one of my smuggler clients.
