Thread: Crafting with Krayt scales
I had a question regarding using Krayt scales along the same lines, I'd like to see the answer to the above, and confirm something.
Suppose I want to make a Krayt-Composite Helm. Since I need 3 identical segments, that means I have to make the first segment with a scale into a schematic, and I need three more krayt scales with the same serial number (from the same krayt) in order to make the helm? That's rough!
To answer your question Jaysen... no, you would only need one extra scale since scales go into the enhancement part of the segment. Make one segment with one Krayt scale as a schematic. Throw the schematic and the 3 remaning Krayt scales into the factory. You would get 3 identical segments.
Anyway I hope someone can answer my crafting question above...

Sorry slider. I'm rereading your post and I'm a bit slow so explain this again like you're talking to a7 year old.![]()
Looking at my first post in this thread....
1. What is the best way to experiment the layers for maximum resists in the final piece?
2. What is the base way to experiment the segment to get maximum resists in the final piece?
3. What is the best way to experiment the final armor to get the maximum resists in the final piece?
Logic tells me to experiment all resists in everything (not base) but we all know comp is not logical...so what should I do in each of those three steps?
Ok. First...there are 2 types of experiment that effect different resists in each stage. Special and effectiveness. The effectiveness experiment raises the base in each stage. The other raises the special resist. SO the first question you have to answer...which reists are more important to me..or do I want to increase both?
1 - Stun layers (using these assuming you want armor with no vulns) - Experimenting special will raise the stun resist at the expense of the base..ie. kinetic, energy, heat..etc.
2 - Segment - Ignore the fact that the scale will move most of the resists to special..it has no bearing on experimentation. When you experiment on the effectiveness line, it will raise the resists of kinetic, energy, heat..etc. Experimenting on the special will raise electric...not sure how it effects stun. Considering stun is a vuln, I think it stops at the segment.
3 - #2 also applies to experimenting the final combine.
I haven't made very many pieces using the kryat scales...so I might be giving you some bad info...I don't think I am.
My advice --- Get a cheap single scale and make a pair of gloves. See what happens. You may find you can afford to take one out of a set and still get what you're after.
Ok here is what I did.
1. Stun layer where I experimented the special up to 11%
2. Base segment where I experimented the base all the way up and the extra into durability. Added the standard Krayt scales 4%across the board
3. Did my materials going for base and anything extra into durability.

I think they're interesting because it's hard to get a stun layer with that resists in all other areas. Of course you would have to hope for a HAM slice. Still interesting I thought.
