Armorsmith Archive
Thread: I'm nearly there... But need a little input...
I would suggest you start making some armor then....you are, after all, an armorsmith.
the way you get different armors (eg: stun composite, is by adding stun layers to the segments)
But first, Start with Bone, Mabari, Chitin, Tantel, Ubese, and Padded.Makea few full suits of each of these, try out one with high special resists, one with high base resists, and one with low encumberance. Get a good idea of the general ranges ofeach, and their possible uses, resists, encumberance, etc.
Then add a layerto Tantel, Ubese, and two to padded. See how that changes the armor. Make some with high base layers, and some with high special protection layers.
Once you understand armor, move on to composite, start with unlayered. Make lots of gloves, finding out your ranges of resists, this will actually save you a ton of time later, as you can use this range to determine what kind of layers you need to use to reach your desired levels.
Lastly, read...read this forum, read on www.swgcraft.com, read up anywhere you can. You won't really understand armor until you can read all the stuff on these boards and actually understand all of it the first time you read it. Good luck.
Ohh....and make gloves. Did someone mention that? Hehe...lots of gloves. ( Yes..I read your post shlomoshun. Just driving that point home.)![]()
gloves..gloves..gloves..gloves..gloves...gloves
They only require one segment, so you don't need to do a factory run to see how they wil turn out.
Personally, I wouldn't make all the different armors unless you feel the desire. I have yet to make Bone, Tantel or Padded. Never saw the point. You can learn the basic mechanics from the others...ie. Mabari, Chitin and Ubese. Ubese to play with layers though.
Composite is a crafting mastery unto itself.
All the different "types" of composite are based on what you put in them via layers. "Advanced" composite comes from using advanced segements.
First, crappy advanced segments are usually better than good regular segments. There's your Adv. comp.
Stun armor - put stun layers in the segments
Kinetic armor - put kinetic layers in the segment.
I understand how you can get to master and not really know how to make good armor. It comes from mindlessly clicking the mouse button on whatever resources are needed for Ubese shirts. Now comes the thinking part. You actually have to make some of this stuff to get an idea....or at least it will give you the basis for intelligent questions.
Here's how you find out how to make good quality armor....
1 - Read some of the posts in the forums. A lot of it won't make sense...but it's good to do a little homework.
2 - Make some layers. Pay attention to what values the experiments change when you run them....take notes.
3 - Make some segments. Both with and without layers. Pay attention to what values the experiments change when you run them....take notes.
4 - Make composite gloves. Using the above mentioned segments. Pay attention to what values the experiments change when you run them....take notes.
Did I mention...MAKE GLOVES?
Once you've made a few sets of gloves...you'll see how it all fits together. Noone else can do it for you.
