Howdy,
As an Master Armorsmith on the server Lowca it's tough to compete with other smiths in my server. Now I don't do to bad selling armor (actually do very well), but I seem to have trouble making huge runs of armor (+25-50 sets). I just get to tangeld up with the layers, segments, and the amount of resources I need to make that big of a run.
What I did is, I calulated the amount of wooley hide needed to run 50 sets of Composite armor (70% base 80% kinetic 80% ele). Which totaled to about 10k of it. Then I calculated the rest amount. But what I get nervous about is one, loosing what I have left of my Composite resources (main resources for the armor peice not layer or segment). Because the Wooley hide on my server has spawned about 3 really great shifts, it's not to hard to find the best hide, its just the price. Now I am not super rich (as I once was). I have a limited bank account when it comes to buying SEA's or resources. Now the wooley hide (Moosrost Rori Wooley) is running from about 150-200cpu EASY. And I have about 31k left of it. So I crunch everytime I think of making huge runs.
I know many of you armorsmiths have poop loads of money to burn to buy what you need and keep stocked. But I just get SO confussed about sorting out my layers, then makign the final run of composite armor.
But I got help recently by a fellow armorsmith on Lowca (Thanks Merla) about using 3 factories to pump out layers, then put 1 of each layer into the schm then pump it out on 1 factory. But when all the segments are complete, I just get so bored of waiting to make 450 peices of armor (50 sets of 9 peices) on 1 factory. It would take me SOO long to do so lol. But I understand people will say just use 4 facts at a time. But then I will get SO more confussed on spliting all my resources in each fact then running them. Then I mess up the amount of resources, or I dont put enough syn & reinforced panels ( I HATE DOING THAT). I mean it gets annoying to buy like 15 crates of both to make the run. On my server they run for 5k per crate totalling to 150k (not bad but so much to handle in 1 little inven
)
I don't normally tell how much credits I run but I have right now total to about 9million. Like I said I am limited, and if I run out there goes armorsmith
Maybe some of you guys can give me some advice how to set up huge runs, and give advice. I thank you guys for reading it lol...
Again, thanks

I keep nine factories due to demand. I also run three sets of layers, and use them to make 1000 schematics. I keep a sheet near my desk with all of the resource quantites required for 45 pieces of each type (chest, helm/pants, bracers/biceps/boots, gloves), and just load all nine factories at once. Extra segments go into a handfull of extra chest plates and helmets.
As far as syn cloth and RFP go, Iused tobuy them in runs of 1000 (which will get you two full runs of comp). I recently dropped the combat skill on my armorsmith character, so now I make my own cloth.
It's a bit of work to do large runs, but the armorsmiths you're trying to compete with are doing the work. If you want to be up there with them, you've got to as well.

Depends on your server, and how much business you already get.

I like to use a single factory to do a complete cook.... ie three runs of layers, then move it all to input hopper, one run of segments, move it to input hopper, make final armor......
Takes a long time, but less confusing. And with a few factories just start a new one cooking every few days and you can get a constant supply of armor.

*shakes fist* Didnt i offer you that hide for 100-120 or something??
Anyway, I am not even an armorsmith, but i am currently making about 2,000 PSGs. With all those sub-components {shudder} it DOES help a great deal to wrtie everything down, like what serials go with what/what resources/what factory you will put them in, etc.
You can also try naming your layers and stuff (again, i am no AS)by numbers or symbols to ease the confusion.
For instance, my Power Converters were named "PC's: PUT IN FACTORY 1". Kind of hard to mistake where they are going, eh?
Hope that helps,
Minas
