Hi there
Having finally got the resources together to make advanced Segs, I started making my first comp bracers etc. I managed to get near 80% kin & elec (got to 73% elec and 80% kin). However, I cant seem to get higher than 55% base, however much I experiment. I just wanted to know if this was like a cap on the actual 'production' of the base resist? If it is, Then can someone enlighten me on how to get 80% base!?!?!. I have a large collection of hides and stuff, I have a lot of 5% Rancor hides, but with only 2 segments going into making a bracer, that would only boost base by 10%, and Im gonna need 25%
. Is it just a question of NAILING the resources?
Any input appreciated

Mate,
You look like you need to get you experimenting sorted, with elec at 18% above base you are doing something very wrong....
OK....
1) Make some unlayered gloves by hand... Make the segment and boost the base as much as possible, then everything else into HAM. Use this segment and make the gloves, again everything into base then the rest into HAM.... Take a note of the base you get.
2) Work out how much more you need to get kinetic to 80%, devide this by three, think od this value as X, and then make layers where the base + kinetic value is just over X... If you want the highest possible base try to get the base up to 3 or 4% but remember the base + kinetic must be higher then X.... If you want light armor get the base to 2%, then up the kinetic to the required value, then reduce HAM as far as possible.
3) Make another set of gloves to test the above, this time using the layers.... I reckon you should see an improvement in you base.
Peaceable

A simple way to make your base higher is what you do with the kinetic layers. I use 3 kinetic layers at 4% base and I think 7 or 8% kinetic. I know this isn't very high but resources on scylla are no where near what other servers have been getting.
With these three layers, put them into an adv. segment made by hand and put as much of your expermimentation points in the base as possible (you can't regulate the kinetic anymore anyway). After you run out there just do the special resist or ham as mentioned in the above post.
After the seg is made, make gloves like the other post said because those only need one seg and it doesn't have to be identical. After you have the gloves at the experimentation window, put everything into the base until you run out of room and then do the ham (since it regulates the special resists too).
Example of what I've gotten with not nearly uber resources:
80%kinetic
75%electricity
64-65%base
This will sell quite well since with a good base slice you will get you at around 70s-80s base. Don't slice it yourself unless you are master smuggler and you have lots of money to waist on mess up's.
You should do excellent selling this stuff at around 200-300k. I have been flashing my prices around at 225k and man do people like that price. You'll get a name for yourself too as the good smith that doesn't rip peeps off lol.
Just my 2 credits worth of advice, not much different from anyone else's but a bit easy to follow.

Hi there
Thanks a lot for all the advice I have got
Well, here is what I was doing, step-by-step, If anyone can find any problems in this please tell me again, but Im sure that Ive done almost eveything that the posts said... (other than the fact I was making bracers, not gloves)
In my kinetic layers, I used 5 exp point on qulaity, and 5 on resistance, and got final stats of 3%base,/9%kinetic.
I also made another batch with 12% kinetic/ 2% base.
In the segments, I put two of the 9/3 segs in, and 1 12/2 one. 8 exp points into quality, and 2 into resistance. Final stats on these were 27%base 36%kin 7%elec.
Finally, putting these into my bracer, I used the above segments, and put 8 Exp into Quality, and 2 into resistance. This gave stats of 73 % elec, 80% kin, and then the low 55% base.
So, am I missing a vital point somewhere? Or is it my resources being poor (cant bloody get hold of any decent kiirium).
Once again, thanks for your help

Read what you are typing.
You are putting all of your experimentation points into your layers' special protections. 12 kinetic with a 2 base will not do much to raise your base resists.
An armorsmith withgood resources should be able toexperimentup toa 52% base UNLAYERED. If you're making composite triple-layered for kinetic you shouldn't need more thanthree 4% kinetic, 4% base layers. Notice that 4% base on the layers. Each layer adds 4% to the base, so you're looking at 52+4+4+4=64% base. You should be able to get 80% kinetic easily like that.
Right now I'll wager your composite armor is needlessly heavy.
You won't see an 80% base without uber loot drops or slicing involved. Even 71% bases take an extraordinary effort in obtaining the absolute best resources.
Here's what to do:
1. Make your armor layers 4% kinetic, 4% base. Once you obtain that, spend any remaining points to lower the encumbrance. 11s for each are okay, 9s or 8s are really good.
2. When making your advanced segments, put everything you can into raising the base effectiveness, as the experimental effectiveness will only raise the Electric resistance. Put anything left into lowering the encumbrance again.
3. When making your composite armor piece, again put everything into raising the base effectiveness first. By the time you've maxxed the base, you should be at 80% kinetic automatically, or close to it. Spend your remaining point either in the top line to make it lighter, or the bottom line to increase the condition and make it last longer. I don't know why it works like that but it does. Either way, if your kinetic was not 80% before putting your last points into the top or bottom line, it should almost certainly be 80% after.
Let me know how your armor turns out.

Lol, tbh, I do feel like a right noob atm
Then again, everyones gotta start somewhere yeah?
I'll go check now what my unlayered base is. Just out of interests sake, I've started making 5 % kin,/4% base layers. I found that with even 3 amazing successes on Experimentation, I couldnt get the base up more than 4%, so Im just putting my extra exp into the kinetic.
Once again however, thanks for all the replies

OK then, Ive just tried using my best resources available, and can only reach 46% (unlayered)(on an amazing success) base, using all of my exp points on base. So, are we looking at the fact that my resources just arent good enough atm? I now can see absoloubtly nothing that I am doing wrong....

I then made 3 4x4 Kinetic layers, to get my segments up to 31% base. So, I put my 31% base segment into my armour gloves, after trying for a while managed to get a straight amazing on the base experiment, and my base only got to 59%. Ok, This is a 4% increase on what I was getting, but GRRR, my Kinetic now wouldnt go past 77%, so again, getting a straight amazing, on Base (with only 5 exp points into it) I got 58% , and managed to get 80% kin and some 7*% Elec, but only by sacrificing 1% on the base. Im guessing now, but I tihnk my quest is to err, get better resources....?
Thanks for any help

Good luck, Boro. I think you've just about got it nailed down.
