I am joining a guild soon, and I have been elected to be the Master Armorsmith. As of now, I have only Novice Artisan. What is your advice on making my way to Master Armorsmith as far as skills to learn, and what to craft. Will getting surveying skills help? How do I find the resouces I need? I have harvest ability, General Crafting Tool, and Mineral Survey Tool. What else do I need? How do I get the other tools I need?
Thanks

This guide here should help you with pointers on getting to Master: Mastering Master AS, a young MAS’s guide.
If you choose the Mabari Chest Plate method, I posted a list of resources you'll need in the: Best Armour Crafting EXP thread.
To answer your other questions:
Other things you'll need:
- at least 1, but preferably about 3-4 14.00 (or better if you can find them) effectiveness Clothing and Armour Crafting tools
- A good 43+ effectiveness Clothing/Armour crafting station
- 2-3 Wearables factories (1 at the absolute minimum)
- 1 equipment factory (optional, but used to make some of the components for PSG's)
Some things you'll want: (Note: these can be expensive, and they are entirely optional)
- Pyollian Cake (boosts effectiveness of initial crafting attempt)
- Bespin Port (Boosts chances of Amazing Success on your experimentation attempts)
I'm sure there's something I've forgotten here, but this should at least point you in the right direction
Cheers,

Thanks for the help. I'll check out those guides. You wrote: "

How do I get these things? I am totally new to this.

You can buy these from a masterartisan, you could check the bazaar or search vendors from the world map for crafting tools

Check around for an Architech. They can make you these items.

When I was a novice armoursmith I was simply unable to afford the huge CPU values that the best resources for armoursmithing cost these days. My best advice to you is to make sure you have an easily depolyed set of harvestors, and spend some time looking for the right resources (these can be found at www.swgcraft.com)
The more good quality resources you can collect now, the easier you will find it later on

Some friendly, if a little ominus advise. Armorsmith isn't an easy profession to master or play. The grind is tough. Once you hit master you will be competing with all the older smiths around. You have a guild, which will help, but be aware that being an armorsmith takes a good deal of time. Months for good resources to spawn, time to establish a shop, time to familierize yourself with the crafting system, time to learn how to make good quality armor, especially since you seem new to the crafting process.
Being "appointed" armorsmith is a bit of a cause for concern, it takes time and dedication to learn this profession. Make sure this is what you want to do.
Read these boards and ask questions, there is much more info here sadly than in the game itself.
Good luck, you will probably need it.

It does sound like a lot of time, but I'm doing TKA too. Both of them should keep me busy, hehe. As for being appointed. Well, I was wanting Creature Handler, but the one guy from that guild told me that I could do everything that I wanted to as long as he gave me a pet to do it with. So, he's going to satisfy that aspect be giving me pets. Armorsmith was one of the things I was looking at as well simply because of the importance of the character. So, it wasn't as much "forced" as to explained to me.
