The solution of increasing item decay of crafted items to offset overproduction might have been the easy choice but not the right one.

Although the concept of endlessly crafting the same items for crafters and having combat players grind credits to replace decay items does fit into the design mechanics of SWG.... does it make sense?

Many times when I was actively playing the game I was amazed at how fast a set of armor would decay.

Perhaps in hindsight the ability to harvest millions of minerals in a short amount of time and use factories to produce hundereds of idenical items should have been toned down.

The reward of being a crafter would seem to be interacting with the customers and creating the perfect item.

Is mass production to keep pace with extreme levels of item decay fun?

you are posting this here why?

ya a suit of armor can wear out quick, but if you are out earning credits you can make tons back. A nice suit of ubese can last a while, sure the chests wear out quick, but you can get enough for a new chest with every janta/mokk mission (at 30k a pop). You don't have to wear the top of the line expensive comp.

also armor doesnt wear out if you don't use it. If items didn't decay, we would all go out of business
