I was wondering how much the Yaviniain Wood and the Dath wood affect the armor. The stuff I see is good OQ pretty bad SR, is SR important in the woods?

OQ would be the most important stat if possibly, since it accounts for 50% of each quality for the armor. SR affects resists, MA for encumbrance and UT for condition (50% each).
I've made some hunting armor with horrible wood and hide and was still able to get 80% kinetic and decent base. Infact, because Kinetic is the special resist, my stun armor was in the very high 70%'s for kinetic protection.
I'm not sure what the difference actually is... but it wouldn't hurt to find the best OQ/SR resources possible as they become available.

Also, what's the deal with the "Armor Padding" thing for each piece? I can't find out who makes it or anything about it at all.

Armor Padding is a Tailor component. I'm not sure the exact level it can be made at (3rd skill box in the second tree form the left maybe?) but it's the only Tailor crafted armor ingredient where quality does matter. I ususally provide a tailor with some of the best hide I have available and get them to make a schematic for me since this component can get expensive to buy (due to the hide requirement).
Hope that helps

Very good point on the Armor Padding. a Master Tailor that can experiment on it and get a higher base is killer.

Keep in mind that the wood is gated in SR. Hard wood isn't too bad, but the soft/evergreen is very low. Some of that stuff you may consider junk, may be the best there will ever be.
