I am just getting into Armorsmithing and I was wondering what you guys would reccomend as far as grinding out/making to get the armor crafting xp for FS xp. I know DE is the best way to go about getting the xp, but I really did not like the class at all.
What do you reccomend? Is it pratical to make suits by hand and therefore not loose resources? Or do you suggest grinding <insert item name> instead?
Yes I know this should technically be in the FS forums, but I am looking for answers from Armorsmiths, not what everyone else wants to chime in about how this class or taht class is better and I should do this or that, and not Armorsmith.

Grinding AS is a resource hog, as well as a carple-tunnle inducer if you dont have a crafting macro.
Making suits of armor by hand is possible, just time and space are the problems. It takes 9 pieces to make a full composite suit and 7 for ubese. You will need a merchant skill with alot of space if you want to sell everything you grind. Someone did the math somewhere on this forum and it works out to be something like 1200+ full suits of composite (or close to 11,000 individual pieces) and into the millions for total resources used.
Also if you just practice on AS stuff for xp, its difficult because AS takes alot of named resources. You can to the ubese shirt grind but it will take you FOREVER to grind out any FS crafting xp.
The cap on AS xp is 120k. you will be making multiple trips to the village to exchange xp, its about 4k or 6k(cant remember which) xp per full comp suit (roughly you get 24k FS crafting xp for every 120k of AS xp)
In my time I have aquired all of 86k of fs crafting xp. But I did get one free unlock so Im 4-0-0-0 FS crafter. I dont mass produce armor so theoreticly I could be farther along but I doubt Id be higher than 4-1-0-0.
I hear to grind crafting xp all you do is grind personal mineral harvesters, but I dont grind so I dont know if it works well.

Thanks... My soon to be armorsmith is also a master architect and I bounce between master artisan and master merchant, depending on my needs so vendor storage space is not a concern. So far I am 0-2-0-0 Crafting mastery and about 220k banked for 0-3-0-0, I've been grinding swoops (8k resources 2k crafting xp, 50k xp cap) with an 8/1 conversion ratio and gungan head stateus (3k resources, 5k xp 240k xp cap) and a 35/1 ratio.
Capping Structuree xp isn't hard, even not grinding, but at a 35/1 conversion ratio I get something like 6200fs xp and Grinding swoops is almost as bad considering the 4 resources for every 1 xp is not all that great anyway. The fastest way id to grind ADV Binary load lifters chassis, but those require tones of duralloy and duranium steel and several factory runs of subcomponents for subcomponts. I am just trying to get a handle on what's the best way to go.
Which gives better xp? Mabari armorweave shirts or Ubese shirts?

mabari gives something like 350-to-400-ish xp I recall per chestpiece, but since it uses organic resources ppl usually dont grind with it because of the ammount of hide (40 per chestpiece). So unless your a scout or have lots of hide around do ubese shirts

I haven't started "grinding" the FS trees yet and just through hand crafting I haven't even earned one box
I posted some math I did here:http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=Forcesensitive&message.id=39017#M39017(sorry Ican't remember how to make a clicky)
But basically I figured AUK's would be the simplest to grind due to the lack of named resources.
8mil metal and 4mil chemical for a total of 392,857 AUK's, or the equivalent of mastering Armorsmith 34.5 times.

For as i would grind armor upgrade kits until you get to 3xxx, then grind ubese shirts. They give about 100exp per and with a good macro (and 7 clothing crafting tools) you could probably bang out about 40-50k as exp per hour

Well I have a few hide gathering toons that I have accaess to, and on a bad day I can pull in about 100k of leathery hide. once the toons are redone I'll have a Swordsman with scouting skills, and a tkm/commando w/ scouting skills, plus a few guild grinders that will keep me supplied, one can pull about 300k hide a day if I asked
