Thread: Race Specific Armor

With Wookies finally getting armor it got me thinking. Why not have 1 set of some armor thats race specific as well?Couple of ideas on it as follows.

Each armor is craftable by a master armorsmith of that race only, which they have to seek out an armorsmith [like the R.I.S. armor] to teach them.

Each armor would have its own uniquie style/theme about it so easily could see that its from that race from a distance. I have looking at Zabrak, humans, bothans, mon cal, whatever from a distance in full armor and you really cant see what race they are, they all look the same basically, bleh...

So heres an idea for 'style' of each.

Human - simple, militaristic, maybe lil Mandolorian hint to it

Zabrak - for some reason i think samuri looking at them with thier horns and tatoos

Twi'lek - very flashy armor, looks fancy, think lekku headwear styles or nightsister/singing mountain clanish with the things sticking out all over, ribbons, frills, etc..

Wookie - 1 concept art already released, maybe just a very fancy version with more metal and gagets? they are supposed to be engineers after all

Mon Cal - im thinking space suit like, big bubble helmet

Trandoshian - barbarian like, something light so they could move around fast but excelent protection in battles with wookies [arent they enemies?]

Bothan / Rodian - no clue, but unique of course to each

Each race has a uniquie armor to them only that has special attributes to help them in some way or another to maybe help them, like with lowered encumberances in 1 or 2 things but normal in the 3rd. Meaning [i think] Twi'lek's are naturaly more agile, they have good action, so the armor would take out like an average chunk of that pool, say Composite encumberance level for stamina/quickness, but since thier mind and health arent as good, those 2 wouldnt take as much of a hit to encumberances.

Would make it more interesting to see people seeking out specific armorsmiths not because they can make the 'uber armor' on the server, but because they are a certain race [and of course can make excelent armor for thier race]. I think this would help make the game feel lil more like the Star Wars universe with diverse cultures and all the races mixed in together. As is now I see the game as nothing more then everyone being human with a costum on pretending to be another race all wearing the same armor... the same clothing... very blah [side note, i hope they do make language cost skill or have to use a translation droid to understand people of other races, hehe]

anyway, its just a thought.idea, maybe sony can do something with it, would be nice to see

I could get into some Mon Calamari Rebel Commando Armour. Just the thing for the badass fish who man the heavy weapons of the Alliance.

Great idea....i think each armor should be craftable only by the respective reaces as well.

Great Idea, but let me ask something, do you think the devs really care about this? I mean its taken MONTHS!!!! to get Just wookies armor. months... and it probably wont be out for another month+tax. it seems like an impossible task to get something new in the game, but i am 100% behind you, i hate walking into coronet and seeing 100 people all wearing the same old boring comp armor

I'm personally not an Armorsmith but I'd have to submit my vote as top Armorsmith priority for Race specific armor (especially for non-humanoids: Trandoshan, Bothan, Rodian). As a Trandoshan I'm tired of being restricted to not being able to wear gloves or boots. This "ability" can be a huge advantage in PvP.

Edited for stupidity...

it doesn't hinder your pvp experience since trandoshans don't get hit in the hands or feet.

As a protector, failure is not an option. if you fail not only does your future end, but the future of the one you're trying to protect ends as well.
